    Abstract: A method and apparatus for selecting an intra interpolation filter for multi-line intra prediction based on a reference line index for decoding a video sequence includes identifying a set of reference lines associated with a coding unit. A first type of interpolation filter is applied to reference samples included in a first reference line, of the set of reference lines, that is adjacent to the coding unit to generate a first set of prediction samples based on the first reference line being associated with a first reference line index. A second type of interpolation filter is applied to reference samples included in a second reference line, of the set of reference lines, that is non-adjacent to the coding unit to generate a second set of prediction samples based on the second reference line being associated with a second reference line index.

    Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for controlling intra prediction for decoding of a video sequence are provided. The method includes, based on a reference line index signaling, to a decoder, a first reference line nearest to a coding unit, among a plurality of reference lines adjacent to the coding unit, applying intra smoothing on only the first reference line, based on the intra smoothing being applied only on the first reference line, applying intra prediction on the coding unit, and based on the intra prediction being applied on the coding unit, applying a position-dependent intra prediction combination (PDPC) on only the first reference line.

    Abstract: A method of signaling an intra prediction mode used to encode a current block in an encoded video bitstream includes generating a first most probable mode (MPM) list corresponding to a zero reference line of the current block, wherein the first MPM list includes a first plurality of intra prediction modes; generating a second MPM list corresponding to one or more non-zero reference lines of the current block, wherein the second MPM list includes a second plurality of intra prediction modes, the second plurality of intra prediction modes including a subset of the first plurality of intra prediction modes; signaling a reference line index indicating a reference line used to encode the current block; and signaling an intra mode index indicating the intra prediction mode from among the first MPM list and the second MPM list.

    Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for controlling intra prediction for decoding of a video sequence are provided. The method includes determining a ratio of a width to a height of a coding unit, and based on the determined ratio being different than one, adding, to a table including intra prediction modes corresponding to intra prediction angles, first wide angles toward a bottom-left edge of the coding unit, second wide angles toward a top-right edge of the coding unit, and additional intra prediction modes respectively corresponding to the first wide angles and the second wide angles.     Abstract: A method of controlling residual coding for decoding or encoding of a video sequence, is performed by at least one processor and includes, based on a multiple transform selection (MTS) index indicating that a transform skip mode is enabled for a coded block of the video sequence, identifying an identity transform as each of a horizontal transform and a vertical transform. The method further includes, based on the MTS index indicating that the transform skip mode is not enabled for the coded block, identifying one of a discrete cosine transform (DCT), a discrete sine transform (DST), a Hadamard transform and a Haar transform, as either one or both of the horizontal transform and the vertical transform. The method further includes performing the residual coding of the coded block, using the identified horizontal transform and the identified vertical transform.
