Abstract:
A method and apparatus provide verification of a correct association between information printed on a closed face package(100) and material (115) and/or information (117) contained inside the closed face package (100). A closed face package (100) with a document (115) inserted therein has a window (113) permitting a portion of the document (115) to be read from outside the package. A first optical device reads data printed on the package (100) and a second optical device reads document data (117) which is printed on the inserted document (115) and appears through the window (113) of the package (100). A data file is read to access account information corresponding to the document data (117). The accessed account information is compared with the package data to determine whether a matching association exists. If the matching association exists, further processing is allowed. If the matching association does not exist, further processing is not allowed.
Abstract:
A sheet feeder apparatus and method with throughput control. By varying the speed at which sheets are fed from a supply, the sheet feeder apparatus and method assures that the throughput capacity of a downstream operation is never exceeded. The speed of the feed assembly (300) is controlled by a controller which receives information from photosensors (600) indicative of the length of the previously fed document to create an optimal inter-document gap. Singulator (400) is comprised of modular, pre-fabricated, self-contained conveyor sub-assemblies (460) which are easily placed upon and removed from shaft (420) and held in place by end cap (439).

Abstract:
A right-angle sheet stager apparatus (10) for merging multiple input sheet streams into a single output sheet stream includes one or more input channels and an output channel. Each input channel includes a transport surface and a staging surface (24A, 24B). Each transport surface communicates with its corresponding staging surface (24A, 24B) at a transitional member interposed between the transport surface (22A) and the staging surface (24A, 24B). Each transitional member includes an upper surface disposed at an elevation greater than an elevation of the corresponding staging surface (24A, 24B). The output channel (30) includes an output surface (32), and is oriented in a right-angle relation with respect channels and communicates with the input channels at a merger location. The stager apparatus (10) permits a sheet from the transport surface (22A) to enter the staging surface and overlap with a preceding sheet already present on that staging surface, prior to the preceding sheet's complete exit from the staging surface.
Abstract:
An integrated computer system architecture for tracking of job data (50) in a document processing environment including an infrastructure built on processes, hardware, software (500) and interfaces designed to monitor and control mail processing (30-48) and data collection through a variety of manual and machine processes in real-time. Computers, networks, web-based applications, databases (20) and scanners (400) are used to interface and integrate traditional mail processing equipment (300) with customized software. The invention integrates the entire mail production process to form and establish a complete end-to-end system. A job tracking scheme is detailed illustrating a particular data mining application.
