Abstract:
An article for protecting part of a user's body and a method of fabricating the same. The article may be a glove for protecting a user's hand from heat or a knee or elbow pad for protecting a knee or elbow from impact. The article includes a base having interior and exterior surfaces. One or more three-dimensional protective pads are applied to a part of the exterior surface of the base. In a glove, at least some of the one or more pads are provided on a gripping surface of the glove. The pads are fabricated from silicone or neoprene or Kevlar ® and may include additional materials that improve the abrasion resistance of the pad such as fiberglass mesh. Protective layers of material, such as layers of silicone, may be applied between the base and the pads, or over the surface of the base and the protective pads.
Abstract:
The invention generally provides a welder's glove (10) including a back side (16) and a palm side (18) constructed from a thermal-resistant material and defining a cavity (15) therebetween including finger portions, a thumb portion, and a palm portion; at least one element (70) on the back side (16) and extending outward from the back side, the element (70) being constructed of a protective material; and at least one pad (32; 41; 46; 48; 56; 61; 62; 66) formed on the palm side (18) and covering a portion thereof, the pad being constructed of a thermal-resistant high grip material.
Abstract:
A highly flexible, flame-resistant, multi-layer glove, including a knitted, flame-resistant inner liner, a moisture barrier layer, a heat-activated glove-shaped web-adhesive disposed between the inner liner and moisture barrier layer, and a flame-resistant shell disposed over the moisture barrier layer, and methods for manufacturing, are disclosed.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
This invention relates to kitchen gloves for commercial, industrial and/or home use, and related uses requiring waterproof gloves or mitts with high, and low, temperature resistance; this invention also relates to mitts or puppets that have a high wear and high heat resistant material, yet can still grip.
Abstract:
A multi-layered barrier glove having high tactility and dexterity characteristics includes an outer shell fabricated from relatively flexible and durable material, and a barrier insert disposed underneath the shell and fabricated from gas permeable, liquid impermeable material. An inner layer or insert may further be provided for adding comfort to the wearer. Specifically, the outer shell is a knit glove made out of aramid fibers for providing durability, cut resistance, and fire resistance identified by non-melt and non-flammable properties. The barrier insert is fabricated from porous polytetrafluoroethylene ("PTFE") that is shaped to fit inside the outer shell. The barrier insert provides the user with the barrier protection to protect the user's skin, while still maintaining the breathability.
