Abstract: Device for lifting and lowering a sub-frieze (2), which device (1) comprises two upward pointing rails (10) at a distance (L) of each other, with on each rail (10), a carriage (11) that is height adjustable by means of a drive mechanism (12) and a suspension element (17) between the carriages (11) to which the sub-frieze (2) is suspended, characterised in that the suspension element (9), comprises two cables (17, 18) or similar at various heights, namely an upper cable (17) and a bottom cable (18) that are tightened between the carriages (11) and in between which spacers (19) have been clamped that are distributed over the distance (L) between the carriages (11) and locally keep the cables (17,18) at a distance from each other that is greater as the spacers (19) are further from the centre of the cables (17, 18) and whose length is chosen in such a way that the upper cable (17) stretches out on a horizontal plane without sagging.
