    Abstract: A method to remove a contaminant from a material comprises using a drive mechanism (250) to provide a plurality of portions of material (117) to a nozzle (230) in order to generate a jet (246) of the portions of material (117) from the nozzle (230). At least some of the portions of material (117) are at least partially coated in a contaminant (115). The jet (246) of the portions of material (117) are directed at a surface of a volume of liquid.
