Abstract:
A colour developer for use in a pressure- or heat-sensitive record material comprises a particulate amorphous hydrated silica/hydrated alumina composite in which the hydrated silica and hydrated alumina are chemically bound and in which the mean alumina content on a dried weight basis is up to 7.5%, based on the total weight of silica and alumina. The composite may be metal-modified, e. g. with copper.
Abstract:
A method of invisible ink fabrication. A first ink having an activator without a leucodye is prepared. A second ink having a leucodye is prepared without an activator, which is combined with the first ink prior to color development and prior to printing. Preferably, the combined ink is printed immediately after being created. Further disclosed are items created using the ink such as toys, puzzles, stickers, coloring books, tags, labels and security devices.
Abstract:
A thermal recording material having a support and, formed thereon, a thermal coloring layer containing an electron donating colorless dye and an electron accepting compound, wherein the electron accepting compound comprises 4−hydroxybenzenesulfonanilide and the support comprises a used paper pulp as a primary component; the thermal recording material which further comprises at lest one of calcium carbonate of calcite type, amorphous silica and aluminum hydroxide as an inorganic pigment; and the thermal recording material wherein the electron donating colorless dye comprises a specific colorless dye and the recording material is formed through the use of a liquid pigment dispersion having a pH of 7 to 10.
Abstract:
An ink formulation comprising: a graphene-based component, a colour change agent, a binder, and a solvent; and the use of the same in laser-imaging.
Abstract:
A reversible thermally sensitive recording composition, which makes use of coloring and decoloring reaction between a leuco pigment and a developing and decoloring agent, uses a specified developing and decoloring agent, an inorganic loading material, amine compound and the like to form a thermally sensitive layer, and has an excellent repeated use characteristic, a favorable printing quality and a high coloring concentration; and a thermally sensitive recording sheet and a card using the thermally sensitive recording composition. The thermally sensitive recording sheet comprises at least a support substrate (1), a reversible thermally sensitive recording layer (2) and a protective layer (3). The thermally sensitive recording layer is constituted by a thermally sensitive recording composition, which contains a reversible coloring pigment, a coloring and decoloring agent, an inorganic loading material and an amine compound in an organic polymer-based binder, and in which the coloring and decoloring agent comprises an amide compound obtained by dewatering condensation of aliphatic carboxylic acid having a phenolic hydroxyl group, an aliphatic alkylamine. Thus it is possible to realize a thermally sensitive recording composition having a high coloring concentration, image stability with time, favorable printing quality, a cycle durability and rewritability, a thermaly sensitive recording sheet or a card using the thermally sensitive recording composition.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for production of color images using leuco dye-containing color forming compositions are described. The color forming composition can include a color forming leuco dye, a metal salt activator, a suppression agent configured for inhibiting the activity of the metal salt activator until application of energy in the form of heat or light, and an initiator precursor. The initiator precursor is capable of liberating scavenger species which reduce the inhibiting action of the suppression agent. The color forming compositions can be single phase mixtures of a leuco dye, metal salt activator, suppression agent, and initiator precursor which are stable under ambient conditions and form a colored composition upon application of energy.
Abstract:
A process for forming an image on a substrate, which comprises coating the substrate with an amine of molybdenum, tungsten or vanadium that changes colour on heating or irradiation as an aqueous dispersion or suspension or as a solution in an organic solvent. Also described is a coated substrate, wherein the coating is a substantially visible light-transparent layer comprising an amine compound of molybdenum, tungsten or vanadium, and a solution of said amine compound and a thermoplastic polymer or a photo-polymerisable monomer.
