Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process and equipment (1) for creating prints on non-woven-fabric and, particularly, relates to a process and to equipment (1) which allows the creation of colour prints on non-woven fabrics at high speed whilst at the same time maintaining optimal print quality on wet or dry product, either in-line with production or off-line. The NWF may be printed over only a small percentage with respect to its surface (2-3%) up to a coverage of 100% of its surface, depending on the use of the NWF itself, i.e.: personal hygiene, domestic hygiene, matting, non-woven fabric for clothing, table-cloths, handkerchiefs, curtains (furnishings), bags, containers for items.
Abstract:
The method is based on the detection of marks printed on the sheets of valuable documents or the like, marks which are situated in predetermined areas of the sheet, substantially at the corners, and which are printed in association with each of the printings of the document. The detection of a printing defect or mismatch between the printings of the recto and the verso, causes the deviation of such sheet towards a secondary rejection area. The detection is preferably carried out by means of chromatic photocells which are coupled to the numberer machines themselves or to chalcographic machines.
Abstract:
Apparatus and related methods align magnetic flakes in a carrier, such as an ink vehicle or a paint vehicle to create optically variable images in a high-speed, linear printing operation. Images can provide security features on high-value documents, such as banknotes. Magnetic flakes in the ink are aligned using magnets in a linear printing operation. Selected orientation of the magnetic pigment flakes can achieve a variety of illusive optical effects that are useful for decorative or security applications.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a printing unit comprising at least three rotating members (01, 09, 24), namely an impression cylinder (24), a forme cylinder (01, 09) that cooperates in the printing position, and a roller (04) that cooperates with said forme cylinder. The two cylinders and the roller may optionally have zero rotational speed (NFZ, NSZ, NW) or a production rotational speed (PFZ, PSZ, PW). At least two of the rotating members have a set-up rotational speed (RFZ, RSZ, RW) that is different from the respective production rotational speed and from the zero rotational speed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of printing on a polymeric film using a gravure printing press, a method of making rollers for a gravure printing press and a set of gravure rollers. The invention enables standardised process colours such as, CYMK colours to be combined to from non-standardised process colours such as, secondary and tertiary colours via a select range of screen angles and screen rulings.

Abstract:
Apparatus comprises transfer means (14; 32; 54) suitable for coming into contact with a shaped surface (2'; 55, 58) of an item (1'; 44; 44') to transfer thereupon a fluid material (7, 7') and applicator means (19; 38) suitable for applying said fluid material (7, 7') onto said transfer means (14; 32; 54), said transfer means (14; 32; 54) being deformable in such a way as to be able to adapt itself according to said shaped surface (2'; 55, 58). Method for decorating an item (1, 1') comprises distributing onto said item (1, 1') a polymeric base layer means (3), applying onto said base layer means (3) a decorative pattern defined by decorating means (4, 7, 7') in liquid form, fixing said decorative pattern to said item (1, 1'), said fixing15 comprising anchoring said decorating means (4, 7, 7') to said base layer means (3), without applying to said item (1, 1') further fixing layers.
Abstract:
A magnetic field is applied to planarize magnetic pigment flakes relative to a surface. In many applications pigment flakes tend to align parallel to each other and to the surface to which they are applied. In some printing operations, pigment flakes that are applied parallel to the substrate are pulled out of plane when the print screen or printing die is lifted off the substrate. If the pigment flakes include a suitable magnetic structure, a magnetic field can be applied to subsequently align the flakes or enhance the alignment of the flakes in the plane of the substrate if the carrier that the flakes are dispersed in is still fluid, enhancing the visual quality of the printed image, especially with optically variable pigments.
Abstract:
A system and method for forming indicia on a substrate. The system includes a feed system for feeding the substrate and a plurality of stations each operable to apply a processing step to the substrate. A first of the plurality of stations applies an energy curable ink to the substrate using a printing process. In some embodiments, this printing process is a gravure cylinder having indicia grooves formed on the gravure cylinder. The indicia grooves on the cylinder retain the energy curable ink until contact with the substrate whereby the energy curable ink is applied to the substrate. A curing unit is disposed downstream of the first of the plurality of stations. The curing unit receives the substrate and outputs an electron beam directed toward the energy curable ink to cure the energy curable ink and form a resultant energy curable layer upon the substrate.
