Abstract:
A machine is disclosed for wind sensing on sailboats. Wind is important for sailing, but sailboats lean away from the wind when under sail. Vertical wind angles reduce the accuracy of existing anemometers. The cup blades disclosed here do not lose rotation speed when heeling over. Since it is now easy to have a sophisticated chartplotter display on a mobile device in waterproof case even on small boats, this waterproof wind sensor is a wireless "appcessory" that can talk to smartphones, tablets, computers, e-readers and marine electronics. The circuit board is encapsulated and is itself the wind direction arrow. A fluxgate compass on the circuit board provides wind direction. The apparatus is solar-powered, so there is no wiring to install or chafe. This allows a further inventive step for raising the anemometer using the mast track without needing to climb up or lower the mast.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a method and system for expandable modular raft and a water ride using the same. In one embodiment, the expandable modular raft can include a raft, and a base unit attached to the raft and configured to receive a building block. The building block can be configured to be force fit to the base unit and/or each other. Furthermore, the building block could be formed from various shapes. The expandable modular raft can be used in a water ride and can float along a path such as a river. Interactive units such as water guns can be placed along the path to allow observers to interact with the riders. Furthermore, a raft area can be located adjacent the path to store the rafts, while a building block area can be located adjacent the path to store the building blocks.
Abstract:
A bearing is for a mooring turret for anchoring a vessel or work platform to a seafloor and includes an annular rail having a central pivot axis and inner and outer circumferential surfaces, the rail being connectable with the vessel or the turret upper end. A plurality of inner rollers are rotatable about separate axes extending parallel to the rail axis and are disposed against the rail inner surface and a plurality of outer rollers are rotatable about separate axes extending parallel to the rail axis and are disposed against the rail outer surface. A carriage is connectable with the other one of the vessel and turret, is connected with the rollers, and retains the rollers engaged with the rail. Thereby, the inner rollers roll along the rail inner surface and the outer rollers roll along the rail outer surface as the vessel or platform pivots about the pivot axis.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a watercraft mounting system that embodies a multi-faceted tube and a mating clamp system adapted to carry an accessory. The designs of the railing and clamp have geometry to prevent rotation while allowing flexibility of adjustment in multiple positions.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to the design and construction process of the sailboat forward cockpit. The invention envisages a transferring of mechanisms for handling the sails under the deck into special canals that are designed and constructed with the help of glass fibres and epoxy resin which gives the ducts suitable strength. The system of pulleys and ropes for tensioning the sails has been transferred to the duct. The maintenance duct is only accessible from the deck and is designed to be level with the deck. This is achieved with magnetic couplers that fasten the covers to the ducts. The protective railing is designed so that it takes into account the best aerodynamic efficiency in the shape of a cut-out section of a circumference with a radius that is equal to three-times the length of the sailboat. The height of the railing above the deck equals to 2 % of the length of the radius. The railing is made from glass fibres and epoxy resin which provides suitable firmness and safety as well as enables the modelling of a specific groove. The groove makes it possible to fasten specially designed deckchairs for sunbathing, which are not affected by the wind.
