Abstract:
Abstract:
A floating barrier wall includes a number of individual barrier units each comprising a housing formed in the general shape of a highway barrier having a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed end walls, and, opposed side walls interconnected to form a hollow interior which is preferably partially or completely filled with a foam material. A ballast weight is secured to each barrier unit, either along or beneath the bottom wall, to maintain them in an upright position in the water. Cables, couplers and/or other connectors are employed to mount adjacent barrier units end-to-end to form a barrier wall which can encircle a vessel or otherwise isolate an area within a seaport to provide security.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a pyro-acoustic device for protecting submarines and surface ships, characterised in that it comprises: a structure (240) for forming a controlled underwater positioning device; and a housing (100) linked with the positioning structure, said housing (100) containing: a plurality of payloads (110) each for generating an acoustic effect; and control means (125, 126; 140; 121) for initiating, according to a controlled sequence, said plurality of payloads (110).
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an apparatus for changing the direction of travel of a sailing vessel. The apparatus consists of a watercraft (10) with moveable flaps (12A, 12B, 12C) internal ballast tanks, solenoid banks (20) and explosive activated nut and bolt clamps. The watercraft (10) is manually navigated or remote control. A method of utilizing the watercraft (10) to retard and/or change the direction of travel of the sailing vessel is disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a torpedo decoy with follow-up track comprising a body made of an effervescent material reacting with sea water to generate a cloud of bubbles simulating a false wake (FS), characterised in that it has an envelope made of material soluble in sea water which delays the reaction of the effervescent material with sea water.
Abstract:
The invention concerns processes for luring torpedoes approaching a ship (10). It consists in equipping a known decoy (1) with an explosive charge (6) and a sonar (7) for the detection of the torpedo as it passes (3) in the vicinity of the decoy. The charge is explosed when the torpedo is at the nearest point, the explosion causing the destruction of the torpedo. The invention combines the task of decoying with that of destroying.

A ballast weight is secured to each barrier unit, either inside or outside of the hollow interior, to maintain them in an upright position in the water. Cables, couplers and/or other connectors are employed to mount adjacent barrier units end-to-end to form a barrier wall which can encircle a vessel or otherwise isolate an area within a seaport or other body of water to provide security.
Abstract:
Barrier units for use in constructing barriers and a method for constructing the barrier units are disclosed. The barrier units are suitable for a variety of purposes including the construction of security barriers for sensitive facilities or temporarily halted ships. The barrier units of this invention can also be used as buffers between marine vessels or between marine vessels and harbor facilities to prevent damage to vessels. The barrier units of this invention can include vertical uprights, vertical protective mesh, submarine protective mesh, impalement spikes, walkways, and internal compartments for storage or occupation by security personnel. The security barrier can include lights or other electronic devices for providing security. The barrier units can be used to provide security for land-based facilities and for barriers between lanes of traffic.
