The invention relates to an assembly comprising a support having a first support member comprising a first channel, and a second support member comprising a second channel, wherein the first and second support members are relatively positioned so that the first and second channels together form a pocket having a mouth at an axial end of the pocket, and a smoking article having first and second portions attached to each other and aligned along a longitudinal axis of the smoking article so that the first portion defines a first end of the smoking article, wherein the smoking article is arranged within the pocket so that the first portion of the smoking article extends through the mouth from within the pocket and the first end of the smoking article is outside of the pocket, as well as processes for preparing the same and packs, such as but not limited to cigarette packs, comprising the assembly of the invention.

The package includes a thermoformed blister body (36) joined to a thermoformed backing body (38). The blister body has a section adjacent the door where the height of the side walls (40, 42), decrease. The backing body carries the door and has a peripheral rib (72) located inboard of a peripheral flange (74). The rib has a pair of longitudinally extending sections (94, 108) divided by a notch (113) that causes the door to bend about a desired fold line (82). A confectionery packaging is provided comprising a first part (20) formed from a preformed shell that is substantially rigid so that the part maintains it shape. The first part (20) holds the product to be packaged, which in the Figures is shown as a confectionery egg. Main surfaces of the first part (20) are shaped so as to substantially conform to the shape of the confectionery egg (12). Consequently an open mouth (24) to the first part (20) is provided. The egg (20) is accessible through the open mouth (24). A flange (26) is formed about the perimeter of the open mouth (24). The flange (26) extends away from the main surfaces and continuously about the perimeter of the mouth (24) and extends a substantial distance therefrom in order to provide a surface against which a second part (30) is sealed. The confectionery packaging forms a sealed enclosure about the egg (12) by sealing a second part (30) to the flange (26). To open the packaging, a film is separated from the first part (20), for instance by peeling back the film. There is therefore provided a packaging which provides an improved protection to the egg (12) and to which graphics can be more reliably applied and reproduced. The first part (20) also provides a convenient holder for the egg (12) to allow the user to consume the egg (12) without having to touch the egg (12) itself.
