A presente invenção descreve uma composição e utilização de um meio de cultura, denominado MMP, para bactérias, preferencialmente da espécie Paenibacillus elgii visando à produção de lipopeptídeos antimicrobianos. Especificamente, o meio de cultura MMP foi desenvolvido de forma a proporcionar um alto rendimento na produção de pelgipeptinas, assim como baixa produção de biofilme, baixo custo e fácil purificação. O meio de cultivo MMP da presente invenção destaca-se por ser um meio mineral que atende os requisitos nutricionais da bactéria e que gera um extrato pobre em impurezas. A presente invenção se situa no campo da microbiologia e da biotecnologia.

The invention provides methods of enriching and isolating novel microbial organisms, such as rhizobacteria, that promote the growth of plants by recreating the rhizosphere in a laboratory setting. The methods of the invention can be used to produce and characterize beneficial microbes grown at the root-soil interface and provide a technique for selectively enriching bacteria that live in close association with plants and foster the growth thereof.

The present invention relates to a genetically modified microorganism for the production of 2,4-dihydroxybutyrate, by metabolic transformation of xylose via the 1,2,4- butanetriol intermediate. The invention also relates to a method for the production of 2,4- dihydroxybutyrate by culturing said genetically modified microorganism in a fermentation medium and recovering 2,4-DHB from said medium.
