Abstract:
A highway marking paint is provided formed from a waterborne latex paint and porous silica beads having a pore volume in the range of 0.3 cc/g to 3.0 cc/g. The silica beads enable the paint to achieve sufficient viscosity to permit the application of a highway marking of at least 40 mil and preferably at least 120 mil. The highway marking paint can also include retroreflective glass beads. Optionally, the highway marking paint further includes an acrylic polymer emulsion. The porous silica in bead form enhances the flowability of the porous silica beads and retroreflective beads.
Abstract:
The present invention is a device and method for monitoring the amount of paint or beads being applied by a paint truck to a road or other surface. Paint and/or bead storage tanks are mounted on weigh bars. By taking periodic measurements of the weight of the storage tanks and by correlating that data with the distance of the road or other surfaces painted, an operator is able to ensure that the amount of paint and/or beads being applied is within a desired specification.
Abstract:
A coating, system comprises 30 to 90 parts by weight of a bioresin component and 10 to 70 parts by weight of an isocyanate component, based on 100 parts by weight of the coating system, and has a percent solids of greater than 60%, The bioresin component comprises an acryfic polymer and a biopoiyol formed from a natural oil. A method of forming a coating on a substrate with the coating system comprises the steps of combining the bioresin component and the isocyanate component to form a reaction mixture having a percent solids of greater than 60 percent, applying the reaction mixture onto the substrate, and curing the reaction mixture to form the coating on the substrate.
Abstract:
Method for the application of reflective road markings, which method, while applying paint by means of a spray gun (1), comprises the step of automatically scattering glass beads or the like, as initiated by a recorded pressure or flow fluctuation in the primary air circuit (3).
Abstract:
A method and equipment for producing a profiled marking, and a profiled marking. The profiled marking is produced of a marking material (2) that is a hot mix or a hot paint. Pressurized air (9) is blown on the surface (5) of the non-hardened marking material (2), which renders the surface (5) uneven.
Abstract:
A self-propelled pavement groove filling apparatus (10) includes an engine, a groove clearing air spray device (116), a mist spray device (120), a product hopper (204), a product dispensing device (220, 224), a water storage device (228), an additive storage device, a grout mixer (208), a water inlet, an additive inlet, a surge hopper (212), a surge hopper grout agitator (232), a grout dispensing device, a grout hopper (104), a grout hopper grout agitator, a material gate (112), a side form (108), an extrusion pan (128), a smoothing plate, and a guiding device. A control panel (304) is mounted on a swing arm (308), wherein the swing arm allows placement of the control panel (304) on the right side or the left side of the self-propelled pavement filling apparatus. The apparatus is particularly useful for forming long-lasting pavement markings, such as lane striping.
Abstract:
A device for discharging particles onto a receiving surface comprises a launching surface (40, 47), particle supply means (10, 31) for dispensing particles towards the launching surface at a controlled rate, and means (46, 58) for supplying a flow of gas across the launching surface, wherein, in use particles are accelerated by the flow of gas and thereby projected onto the receiving surface.
Abstract:
The horizontal marking method of the invention is intended for marking a receiving surface such as a road. Said method comprises the deposition of an interface sub-layer (2) in liquid or pasty form on the receiving surface (1) before applying at least one marking product (6, 13). The interface sub-layer (2) is not directly involved in the marking and is compatible with the materials between which it is located to ensure binding thereof. The road markings consist of a sheet of fluid (6) and/or embedded elements (13) in order to improve the perception thereof. Marking can be carried out in wet weather conditions and may be a first-time or repeat application. In some of these configurations, it is visible at night, in rain, and may have an acoustic effect.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of applying markings to road surfaces, the method calling for a water-dilutable disperse paint which can be coagulated by acid to be brought in contact with an acid. The acid is scattered of sprayed, in the form of an aqueous solution, on a powder on particles wetted with acid, to or into the dispersion after the dispersion has been sprayed on to the road surface. Markings applied using this method dry within only a few minutes. The use of road-marking vehicles enables the markings to be made almost without the need to cordon off the moving worksite.
Abstract:
The device proposed is designed to apply a first, thin layer (2) to the surface to be marked. Subsequently, ridge-like markings (3) are applied to the marked area (2) at right angles to the marked areas (2) or inclined at an angle to it. Finally, light-reflecting material (4) is incorporated in the surface of the markings (2, 3) while they are still soft.
