Abstract:
A node connector in a double layer grid-type of space frame preferably is an extrusion which includes an open-ended tubular portion for snugly at least substantially encircling a frame chord member of desired cross-sectional configuration which is disposable in the passage. The node connector has fixed external elements which extend along the connector parallel to the passage. Those elements define facing parallel flat surfaces arranged in at least two pairs of such surfaces. The surfaces of each pair lie equidistantly from a center plane between them. Each center plane is parallel to the passage axis and preferably includes the passage axis. Each pair of facing flat surfaces of the node connector can cooperate closely with opposite flat surfaces at the end of each of other frames framing member placed between the facing surfaces. The node connector can be secured to a chord member in its passage and to ends of other framing members by shear pins which have zero clearances in node connector holes and in holes or passages through the respective framing members. The space frame can be a movable armature for a curved solar reflector, the space frame having a V- shaped major surface. At least some of the framing members can be thin wall tubes modified to have opposing, flat-exterior wall zones along the length of each tube and in which the wall thickness is locally increased and through which shear pin holes are defined.

Abstract:
A space truss system comprising at least two planar grids (106, 102), the grids (106, 102) being substantially parallel and adjacent grids (106, 102) being connected by at least one diagonal strut (116). The grids (106, 102) are connected at the intersection of their respective cross members (nodes) (112, 114) and each connection is secured by a single connector (120) which is passed through a hole in the node (112, 114) (not shown), the hole being substantially perpendicular to the plane of the grid (106, 102). The diagonal strut (116) is connected to the connector (120) by means of a connecting section on the strut (116) formed by part of the strut (116), the connecting section being shaped and angled to be parallel to the planar grid (102, 106) whilst the diagonal strut (116) is connected to the planar grid (102, 106). In one embodiment, the strut (116) has a connecting section formed at each end. In an alternative embodiment, the strut (116) is V-shaped and has a connection section being formed at its centre by flattening portions of the tubular members.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a lattice beam consisting of several parallel metal sections (1, 2, 3) held together by trellis structures (4) running obliquely through said sections. The invention is characterized in that three hollow sections (1, 2, 3) are joined to a beam having an isosceles triangle cross-section. The hollow section at the tip of the triangle and the other hollow sections have hollow chambers (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14). These chambers are fitted symmetrically in the case of the first hollow section. In the case of the other two hollow sections, the hollow chambers are fitted so as to be mirror-symmetrical to the plane running in the middle between the equal sides. At least some of the hollow chambers of all the hollow profiles have a slit (15) which opens outwards on their outer wall. Thanks to this structure, the lattice beam can be fitted with connectors from known fair and exhibition building systems. Additional elements or decorative plates (17) can also be fitted in simple fashion, the lattice beam thus becoming an aesthetic structural element.
Abstract:
A space frame structure comprises a rectangular grid of upper chords and a rectangular grid of lower chords directly below the upper chords. The grids are joined by diagonal braces. Each brace extends from a node where two chords on the first grid join to central points between the corresponding nodes on the second grid. Open lines free from braces are used to carry air ducts and other services. The structure is built up from modules typically incorporating one upper and one lower chord and two diagonal braces.
Abstract:
A space frame comprises an upper rectangular grid of horizontal structural members (21B to 24B) and a corresponding lower grid of horizontal structural members (21A to 24A). Upper and lower grids are interconnected by upright members (25A, 25B) at intersections. The structure is built up from prefabricated modules (A, B, etc.) each of which comprises one upright member and four orthogonally arranged horizontal members (21 to 24). Alternate modules (B) are inverted and the outer ends of horizontal members (21A, 21B) are fixed to the free ends (31B, 31A) of the upright members (25).
Abstract:
An adjustable space frame or truss (10) has chords (12) and posts (15) hingedly interconnected at nodes (201) and adjustable length tension braces (20,...) and/or compression struts (21,...) interconnect respective nodes between adjacent chords to enable angular movement of the chords and posts in the plane of the posts and chords.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a cube-shaped profile element (1) provided with more than six identical side surfaces (2), wherein preferably eight slits (3 and 4) are arranged at an angle of 45 degrees to each other about an axis of symmetry of the side surface (2) and wherein a central bore is provided (7). Through the slits (3, 4) behind the side surface (2) Insertable closing elements can be inserted through the slits (3, 4) behind the side surface (2). The profile element (1) is preferably hollow and is constructed from six identical, side-surface forming plates (2). All plates (2) are provided with eight-cornered edges (5 and 6), whereby the plates (2) are connected via one edge (5) and the other edges (6) each form an opening (8) at the corners of the cube-shaped profile elements (1). Very modular, stabile construction systems are produced using said elements (1) and cross-shaped profil strips having an acceptable appearance when connected with clamp profiles, wherein said elements (1) each form an optically acceptable closure at the edges of the skeleton structure.
