Abstract:
The invention provides an assembly (20) for release of an element (8) such as a hatch. The assembly (20) includes first means such as a peg (28) moveable between a first position in which the first means (28) restricts full release of the element (8) and a second position in which the first means (28) does not restrict full release of the element (8), and second means, such as shape memory alloy wire (32) which is adapted to contract when activated to move the first means (28) from the second position to the first position. Optionally, the assembly (20) includes third means, such as shape memory alloy wire (34) which is adapted to contract when activated to move the first means (28) from the first position to the second position. The assembly (20) is useful for testing oxygen release apparatus in aircraft.
Abstract:
A rotary latch assembly (10) for a galley cart compartment door (12) is disclosed comprising a barrel member (16) rotating on a spindle (18) and a handle (14) connected to the barrel member. An interfering block (34) outside the barrel member can prevent rotation of the barrel member when engaged with the barrel member, and be displaced by a lock button (32) diametrically opposed with the interfering block. The handle of the rotary latch bears against the door in a locked position to prevent the door from opening, and the button when depressed releases the barrel member to rotate and the handle to pivot out of the path of the door.
Abstract:
A door lock has a base (12) securable to a door or door frame, and a locking arm (30) pivotally connected to the base (12) and movable when the base is secured to the door or the door frame to a blocking position where the door is prevented from opening and a retracted position where the locking arm (30) is retracted from the door locking position. The locking arm (30) is biased (38) to the retracted position to facilitate closing the door when the base is secured to the door or to the door frame. A locking device (28) is slidably mounted on the base for sliding movement to a locking position in a direction parallel to the plane of the door to engage the locking arm (30) and hold the locking arm in the blocking position against the biasing (38) when the door is closed, thereby locking the door. The door is unlocked by sliding movement of the locking device (28) to an unlocking position in a direction opposite to the first mentioned direction to become disengaged from the locking arm (30), whereby the biasing (38) returns the locking arm to the retracted position.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A rotatable door latch for a door hingedly attached the housing of a device, configured to close over an installed cassette against a front panel of the housing, and capture the head of a post mounted to the housing. After capturing the head of the post and rotating the door latch, a slot in the latch has a cam or ramp feature slides against the post head, the ramp increasing in thickness to increase the closing force between the door and the post head. A detent at the end of the slot provides a maintenance closing force between the door and the post head. The thickness of at least a portion of the detent is less than the terminal thickness of the ramp, so that a release force needed to move the detent off the post head is greater than the maintenance force between the detent and the post head.
Abstract:
A utility access (10) which includes mechanical locking means (12) for locking the utility access and electronic securing means (14) configured to secure the mechanical locking means (12), in use, to render the mechanical locking means (12) inoperable when so secured. In this manner the utility access (10) is only accessible when the electronic securing means (14) releases the locking means (12). Also provided is a lock for a utility access, a manhole cover and a hinge arrangement for a manhole cover.
Abstract:
Telecommunications enclosures (10, 110) and related methods are disclosed. In one aspect, the enclosure (10) includes a base (20), a cover (40), a lock assembly (70) for securing the base (20) to the cover (40), and a key (60) for operating the lock assembly (70). In one aspect, a lock clip (80) of the lock assembly (70) enables operation of the lock assembly (70) when the cover (40) is in the closed position. In another aspect, the lock clip (80) disables operation of the lock assembly (70) when the cover (40) is in the open position such that the lock assembly (70) is prevented from being operated out of the open position. In yet another aspect, the key (60) is prevented from being removed from the cover (40) when the key (60) operates the lock assembly (70) out of the locked position.
Abstract:
It would be beneficial to have a means for securing a door or portal, or for opening a door or portal such that it cannot be opened from the other side, in which the securing means could be operated without the use of the person's hands. Latching system (250) comprises latching device (255) and receiving device (265). Latching device (255) may be movably attached to door (220), preferably at the bottom of door (220) and latching device (255) is used to secure door (220) to door frame member (205). Latching system (250) is located substantially near the bottom of door (220) so that it may be operated by means of a person's foot. Receiving device (265) is affixed to door frame member (205). Receiving device (265) is configured to receive latching device (255) when latching device (255) is rotated towards receiving device (265).
Abstract:
A door locking device (1) including a support (5), a retaining hook (6) for the door (3), rotationally carried by the support about an axis (A) between a working position, in which it locks the door, and a rest position, and actuating means (10) of the retaining hook including an abutting element (11) for the door, movably carried by the support, a slide (12) sliding on the support perpendicularly to the axis and against the bias of elastic means (14), operatively associated to the abutting element to be displaced thereby; first and second inclined plane means (20,21), operatively associated to each other and carried by the slide (12) and by a stem (31) of the retaining hook, respectively, the latter facing the opposite side of the door, to rotate the retaining hook (6) between the rest and working positions upon displacement of the slide; and a safety device (22) carried by the support facing the slide, and including a pawl (25) movable between an extracted position and a retracted position in which, with the slide in the working position, it engages/does not engage a through perforation (27) of the slide.
