Abstract: A pump assembly comprises an inlet (10) having an open end, an outlet (12) having an open end and a housing (11) having an inlet aperture (31) in fluid connection with the inlet (10) and an outlet aperture (32) in fluid connection with the outlet (12). A rotor (37) is located within the housing (11) and shaped to form with an interior surface of the housing at least one chamber (28a, 28b) that on rotation of the rotor (37) conveys fluid from the inlet aperture (31) to the outlet aperture (32). The housing (11) carries a seal (24) located in the inlet (10) and urged into contact with the rotor (37) to prevent the passage of fluid past the rotor (37) from the outlet (12) to the inlet (10). The inlet (10) and the outlet (12) have respective centre lines that are parallel to one another and normal to the axis of the rotor (37). The outlet (12) forms a guide path for linear movement of a mould core (52) for forming the outlet (12) and the outlet opening (32) and the outlet aperture (32) being so orientated that the direction of opening of the outlet aperture (32) does not face away from the open end of the outlet (12). This allows the outlet (12) and the outlet opening (32) to be formed using a single simple mould core (52) travelling in a linear path.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft eine Abdichtung des Kolbens von Rotationskolbenmaschinen, die aus zwei oder mehr nebeneinander angeordneten Rotorsegmenten bestehen und die die Teilfuge(n) zwischen der Kolbensegmenten gegen das Arbeitsfluid abdichten. Die vorliegende Erfindung stellt sich die Aufgabe, die statische Dichtheit der ruhenden, nicht im Betrieb befindlichen Maschine so zu erhöhen, wie sie auch bei Maschinen der Hubkolbenmaschinen-Bauart mit neuen, nicht verschlissenen Kolbenringen erreicht wird. Die erfindungsgemäße Lösung der Aufgabe wird dadurch erreicht, dass von außen über die Teilfuge zwischen den Kolbenhälften eine folienartige Abdeckung gelegt wird, die die Breite beider Kolbenhälften haben kann und derart mit den Dichtelementen für die radiale Abdichtung des Kolbens verbunden wird, so dass die axiale Beweglichkeit der Kolbenhälften zueinander nicht eingeschränkt wird, jedoch die Teilfuge zwischen ihnen durch wirkende Fluidkräfte dicht rund um den Rotationskolben dicht verschlossen wird.

Abstract: The proposed power unit of the rotary-piston type, for example, an internal combustion engine, compressor or pump, has a stator (8) and a rotor (3) designed in such a way as to allow a number of variable-volume working chambers to be created in the stator when the rotor turns. The meshing mechanism (13, 14) between the stator and the rotary piston which rotates on an eccentric section (2) of the shaft (1) is essential for the management of that rotation and is situated outside the rotary piston. For that purpose an aperture (15) is provided in the wall (11) of the stator and is shut off by a rotating disk (or ring) (16) through which a spigot (4) passes and rigidly connects the rotary piston and a pinion (13). This arrangement creates a power unit with a triangular stator and double-peak rotor. Several sets of balance, lamellate, spring-loaded sealing elements are mounted on the lateral surface of the stator. They are in contact with the side surface (7) of the rotary piston which has a forced cooling system.

Abstract: A seal (44, 46, 116) for a mechanism such as an engine compressor, expander, pump, or the like. The mechanism includes a housing (10, 100) defining an operating chamber (12, 102) and a piston (30, 104) is within the housing and mounted for movement therein. The piston has a first surface (36, 106) within the chamber adapted to be subjected to gas at elevated pressure and a second, adjacent surface (38, 108) at least part of which is not subjected to gas at elevated pressure. A seal receiving groove (40, 42, 118) is disposed in the piston second surface adjacent the part not subjected to high pressure and has opposed side walls (60, 62, 120, 122) one being near the first surface and the other (62, 122) being near the part (60, 120) of the second surface not subject to high pressure. The latter side wall diverges away from the first mentioned side wall and a seal is disposed within the groove and has a sealing surface sealingly engaging the housing. An opposed surface (68, 130) is on the seal and located within the groove and a surface interconnects the sealing surface and the opposed surface and faces the last mentioned side wall (122) and is adapted to substantially abut the same to seal against it. The seal is narrower at the opposed surface than at the sealing surface and further is sized to be somewhat laterally shiftable within the groove. As a consequence, desired gas energization characteristics can be provided.

Abstract: A rotary device is provided. The rotary device includes a housing having a cylindrical inner surface and a rotor assembly mounted for rotation in the housing.
