Abstract:
Abstract:
A threaded fastener (100) includes a shank (104) having a first, threaded portion (102) and a hardened thread portion. The shank (104) includes a thread (112) extending outwardly from a shank body over a first length of the shank (104). A second portion (106) of the shank (104) includes a groove positioned coincident with the thread and including a turn ratio equal to a turn ratio of the thread. The shank comprises corrosive resistant stainless steel. A coil (200) of hardened steel engages the groove to fill the groove along the second portion.
Abstract:
In a roof system, a top coat of lightweight insulating concrete is anchored to an underlying base slurry coat of lightweight concrete and a metal, gypsum, tectum or concrete roof deck by installing anchoring devices at spaced intervals. The anchoring devices may be made of plastic, steel or aluminum and include a threaded shank extending upwardly from a base plate. The anchoring devices are installed by fastening the base plates to the underlying roof deck structure or by setting the base plates in the lightweight base concrete slurry coat so that the threaded shanks of the anchoring devices extend upwardly through holes in EPS board insulation and into the subsequently applied top coat of lightweight insulating concrete. The base plate and threaded shank effectively anchor the attachment of the lightweight insulating concrete top coat to the underlying base slurry coat and roof deck to enhance resistance to wind uplift forces.
Abstract:
A thread forming fastener (20) comprising a drive head (22) and a shank (24), the shank including a profile which in axial cross-section includes a leading face (42), a trailing face (44) and a tip (46). The leading face (42) is composed of a radially inner concave portion (42a) which transitions smoothly to a radially outer convex portion (42b). The trailing face (44) is composed of a radially inner linear portion (44a) to a radially outer convex portion (44b).
Abstract:
A thread forming screw (10) having a minimum surface hardness of HRC 56. The screw (10) can form threads in a workpiece having a surface hardness which exceeds HRC 23. A method of surface hardening a screw (10) includes carbon enriching the screw (10) to at least a 0.48 carbon level, and then quenching the screw (10). Then, the screw (10) is tempered such that the surface hardness does not exceed the core hardness by more than 3 Rockwell C points, and both the surface and core are at a Rockwell C33-C39 hardness. Subsequently, the point (16) is induction hardened, and the screw is quenched again. The screw (10) is again tempered such that the lead threads (18) and the first 3-4 full threads (22, 24) are at a Rockwell C56 minimum hardness, preferably to a depth (26) of at least 0.008 inches, and the core of the fastener (10) is at Rockwell C33-C39 hardness. Finally, a finish is applied.
Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract:
A bracket assembly for mounting mirrors to walls comprises a bracket and an anchor. The anchor includes a threaded stem for securing the anchor to the wall and a connector adapted to protrude outwardly of the wall when the anchor is mounted to the wall. The bracket includes a socket adapted to receive the connector and an arm for bearing against the mirror and holding the same against the wall. The socket and the connector include cooperating locking elements. Once the anchor has been installed to the wall via the threaded stem, the socket is engaged over the connector so as to secure the bracket to the anchor via the locking elements with the bracket concealing the anchor. The mirror is held between the arm and the wall. The connector defines knurls that engage a knurled skirt in the socket thereby providing a plurality of locking positions along an axis of the anchor, whereby a distance between the arm and the wall can be varied to accommodate mirrors of various thicknesses. The locking elements are also adapted to prevent the bracket from rotating relative to the anchor about the axis thereof.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a thread-cutting screw for screwing into a pre-bored hole in concrete, brickwork or similar. The inventive screw is characterised in that the bearing screw thread surface A0n of the stressed screw thread flank that is scaled to the bearing screw-thread length he and that cuts into the hole wall of the pre-bored hole behaves as in formula (I) in relation to the nominal bore diameter (db), k being a constant of the value 1
