Abstract:
An arrow-type warhead (100,200,300,400,500,600,700) comprises an envelope (102,202), a filling (108), a hardened head section (104) to promote penetration of the target and a stabilizing mechanism (106,210,302,402,502,602) to stabilize the warhead in flight, hi some embodiments the filling (108) is pyrophoric and undergoes an exothermic reaction with the envelope upon impact. In other embodiments the filling is incendiary and undergoes reaction with the envelope upon impact in an oxygen rich-environment. In yet other embodiments, the filling is explosive. In all embodiments, the warhead may be equipped with a mini-rocket propulsion mechanism (802) for propelling the warhead to the target.
Abstract:
The invention relates to ammunition for fire and pneumatic smoothbore weapon and can be used for producing bullets for hunting and sporting guns. The inventive method consists in deforming the rear part of a tubular blank in such a way that an aerodynamic empennage is formed and in arranging a core in the front part of said blank. The core is introduced into the tubular blank prior to deforming and is fixed in said blank by deforming the front and rear parts thereof. Deformation is carried out by pressing the blank wall without modifying the thickness thereof. The deformation of the tubular blank can be carried out by longitudinally clamping said blank between two crimping matrixes. Said core is embodied in such a way that an extractor in the form of an aerodynamic needle is formed in the material thereof, the core being inserted when said extractor is disposed outside the internal volume of the blank.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for packing fin-stabilized penetrators (8) in a carrier shell (1), which penetrators (8) comprise a front penetrator part (10) and a rear fin part (9, 9') comprising fin sides (14, 14'), so that the empty space between the penetrators (8) and problems with the penetrators upon the release of the penetrators (8) from the carrier shell (1) are minimized, wherein the penetrators (8) are packed in groups (7) and are joined together to form larger packing units (6), in which each group (7) is arranged with a centrally located penetrator (8) flanked by at least three outer penetrators (8), which outer penetrators (8) are arranged so that their front penetrator parts (10) lie side to side against the fin sides (14, 14') of the centrally located penetrator (8). The method is characterized in that the rear fin parts (9, 9') of the penetrators (8) are made shorter than the front penetrator parts (10) of the penetrators (8), and in that the front penetrator parts (10) are made cylindrical for the distribution of load stresses, upon firing of the carrier shell, from the centrally located penetrator (8) rearwards in the direction of firing via the front penetrator parts (10) of the flanking penetrators (8).

Abstract:
Abstract:
A penetrator (100) includes a fore body (120) having a center of aerodynamic pressure (122) forward of a center of gravity (120) and a stabilizing portion (104) removably attached to the fore body such that, when attached to the fore body, a center of gravity for the penetrator is forward of a center of aerodynamic pressure for the penetrator. A method of using a penetrator includes propelling the penetrator toward a first target, penetrating the first target with a fore body of the penetrator, and detaching a stabilizing portion of the penetrator from the fore body. The method further includes impacting the second target with the fore body.
