Abstract:
A jack port locking device includes a base having side longitudinal slots. A protrusion extends upwardly into the slot. The base's top is compressible between a released and a compressed position. A ramp slopes upward from the front end. A stop higher than the ramp is positioned rearward of the ramp. A front portion of the device in the compressed position is dimensioned for insertion into a port so that the ramp is retained within the port when the device is in the released position. When the device is retained within the port, the protrusion prevents sufficient compression to remove the device from the port, and the stop is positioned to prevent access into the port. Preferably, the device is removable only by destroying the device's integrity. The device may have an electronically pollable sensor for detecting the device's presence in a port over a network.
Abstract:
An electronic device (1 ) comprising a housing (2,3) and a keypad (5), said keypad being arranged essentially on an outer surface of said housing. The housing furthermore comprises a displaceable portion (3) which is displace able between a "locked" position in which the keypad is deactivated and an "active" position in which the keypad is activated. This provides for a very intuitive and simple to use key lock function.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed herein for controlling various types of electronic systems with biometric input and/or other types of input. A method for controlling an electronic system in accordance with one embodiment of the invention includes receiving biometric input from a source to perform a desired function. As a first condition to performing the desired function, the method includes analyzing the biometric input to determine the authenticity of the source. When the source is determined to be authentic, the method further includes determining if one or more second conditions to performing the desired function exist. If one or more second conditions do exist, then the method includes verifying that the one or more second conditions are satisfied and, if the one or more second conditions are satisfied, performing the desired function.
Abstract:
A complete, facile to use and operate telephone apparatus (10) for use with a communications system including a toll charge telephone system (104). The apparatus is a simplified telephone receiver with no keypad to allow only incoming calls to be received thereon. The system includes a communications system connected to a toll charge telephonic system whereby incoming calls charged only to a caller, at a reduced rate, may be processed. The apparatus is adapted to only receive verified incoming telephone calls and to then transmit radiotelephone signals upon receipt of such a verified call.
Abstract:
A telephone call control device comprises a casing (1) for attachment to the housing of a freely accessible telephone socket, a control plug (15) carried by the casing for engaging in the telephone socket when the casing is attached, a control socket (21) carried by the casing for receiving the plug of a communications apparatus to be connected to the telephone socket, and control circuit means in the casing for electrically connecting the control socket and the control plug. The control circuit has a call-restricting operating condition in which, following dialling from an apparatus connected to the control socket, the control circuit monitors the transmission on the line and, in the absence of a predetermined carrier signal, disconnects the line.
Abstract:
A method for guarding against telephony-based fraud that comprises, at a telephony device, identifying a caller ID of an incoming call or a dialled number of an outgoing call attempt or a number to be dialled. The identified caller ID or dialled number or number to be dialled is then compared against a blacklist of telephone numbers. In the event that a match is found, a warning is presented to a user of the device and/or the call or call attempt is terminated.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to a mobile telephone with wristband, which comprises a microphone, a loudspeaker (7), an antenna, at least one battery (12), and means (8) for connecting the mobile telephone to a charger, wherein a number of authorised subscribers are registered in the mobile telephone, and when the mobile telephone is switched on calls from an authorised subscriber are put through without the user of the mobile telephone having to do anything. Characteristic of the mobile telephone of the present invention is that the mobile telephone comprises a wristband which comprises two parts (9, 10) that can be detachably joined together, the wristband comprises a buckle to enable repeated putting on and taking off of the mobile telephone, and when the connection of the parts (9, 10) is broken the mobile telephone automatically carries out a communication procedure with one or more of the authorised subscribers.
