Abstract: Different implementations are described, particularly implementations for video encoding and decoding based on a linear model responsive to neighboring samples are presented. Accordingly, for a block being encoded or decoded in a picture, at least one spatial neighboring template is determined and at least one linear model parameter is determined based on reconstructed samples of the at least one spatial neighboring template. In a first embodiment, the number N of reconstructed samples corresponds to N = 2k with k chosen so that n is the maximum integer smaller than the sum of the block width and block height. In a second embodiment, an offset for the relative position of a first sample in the template among samples of a left, respectively top, neighboring line of the block is determined. In a third embodiment, the number of reconstructed samples is set to a higher number in the larger dimension of the block.

Abstract: Encoding can involve correcting chroma components representing the chroma of an input image according to a first component representing a mapping of the luminance component of said input image used for reducing or increasing the dynamic range of said luminance component, and a reconstructed component representing an inverse mapping of said first component. At least one correction factor according to said at least one scaled chroma components can also be obtained and transmitted. Decoding can involve scaled chroma components being obtained by multiplying chroma components of an image by at least one corrected chroma correction function depending on said at least one correction factor. Components of a reconstructed image can then be derived as a function of said scaled chroma components and a corrected matrix that depends on an inverse of a theoretical color space matrix conversion and said at least one correction factor.

Abstract: Embodiments for volumetric video encoding and decoding relating to one or more three-dimensional objects are disclosed. Abstract: In multi-pass SAO filtering, the output filtered samples of a previous SAO pass become input to the current SAO pass. We observe that different SAO passes demonstrate different statistics. Therefore, we propose to use different syntax structures for different passes. In one embodiment, in the first pass, we still use sao_type_idx_luma and sao_type_idx _chroma flags to indicate the SAO types for luma and chroma components, respectively, and in the subsequent passes, we propose to use an additional flag to indicate whether the SAO filtering is turned off for both luma and chroma components. Also, instead of coding syntax element sao_type_idx_chroma itself, we may code (sao_type_idx_chroma – 1) at the encoder side and add "1" back at the decoder side, when both sao_type_idx_off and sao_type_idx_luma are zero.
