    Abstract: Systems and methods for frequency hopping random access in a wireless network that operates in an unlicensed frequency spectrum are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method performed by a wireless device comprises determining that a network node is inactive for a first dwell time, where the first dwell time is a first period of time during which the network node operates on a first frequency, and transmitting a random access preamble during the first dwell time. The method further comprises determining that the network node is active for a second dwell time, where the second dwell time is a second period of time during which the network node operates on a second frequency. The method further comprises, upon determining that the network node is active for the second dwell time, monitoring for a random access response in the second dwell time.

    Abstract: A radio access node or wireless device performs LBT on a channel and dynamically determines a transmission starting point on the channel, based on whether the LBT succeeds before or after a slot boundary between a slot n and a previous slot n-1. In response to determining that the LBT succeeds before the slot boundary, a transmission scheduled for the slot n is extended to start earlier, in the previous slot n-1. Otherwise, in response to determining that the LBT succeeds after the slot boundary, either a transmission scheduled for a next slot n+1 is extended to start earlier, in the slot n, or a transmission scheduled for the a second mini-slot of the slot n is extended to start earlier, in a first mini-slot of the slot n.

    Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a scheduling method using an unlicensed spectrum. The method comprises: obtaining a channel busy rate of the unlicensed spectrum; selecting one or more scheduled user equipment according to the channel busy rate, in which the amount of the one or more scheduled user equipment is greater than or equal to the amount of receiving antennas of a base station; and transmitting a scheduling grant instruction to the one or more scheduled user equipment so that the one or more scheduled user equipment attempt to perform uplink transmission using a channel in the unlicensed spectrum according to the scheduling grant instruction. The present disclosure also discloses a communication method and apparatus using an unlicensed spectrum and a scheduling apparatus using an unlicensed spectrum. The present disclosure can improve the multiplexing gain and system throughput of the channel.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to a mechanism at a radio access node(s) and a User Equipment (UE) that enable the UE to decide whether the UE can use a wireless channel for data transmission even when the UE senses the wireless channel as being busy during a listening phase of a Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) procedure. In some embodiments, the method of operation of the UE comprises performing a LBT procedure for an observed channel where a result of the LBT procedure being that the observed channel is busy and deciding to override the LBT procedure based on knowledge that the observed channel is busy due to transmission by a compatible UE and transmitting on the observed channel even though the result of the LBT procedure is that the observed channel is busy upon deciding to override the LBT procedure. A compatible UE is a UE that can be spatially multiplexed, i.e. co-scheduled on the same or overlapping time and frequency resources, e.g. a MU-MIMO scheme.
