Abstract:
Here, a new type of biodegradable incubator (100), submersible in water, is described, along with a blank for it, and a method of use for hatching fish in a natural habitant.
Abstract:
A container having a closable aperture, comprising: a main body arranged to define an interior compartment that is accessible via the aperture; and a plurality of discrete foldable portions (35, 40) arranged around the aperture; wherein the foldable portions are arranged such that the action of bringing at least two of the foldable portions (40) together causes one or more remaining portions (35) to fold inwardly beneath them, thereby to substantially close the aperture.
Abstract:
A stable, closed and hermetic container manually erected from a unitary blank of foldable material without the need of adhesive or preassembled panels, having an expandable design for adding or modifying its mounting and content insertion/extraction/inspection features, useful for collecting small items or waste, or for being used as a wrapper. A full featured application is a compact, portable container for the collection and disposal of multiple CBs, built with fire resistant and biodegradable paperboard, providing extended mounting features and having limited one way access to the chamber.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a biodegradable container (1) for single dose or multi-dose administration of beverages by injecting a fluid solution, under pressure through a preparation, said biodegradable container (1) comprising: - a tubular body (2) having a side wall (22), a first opening (40), and a second opening (23), opposite to said first opening (40); - a first surface (21) coupled to said tubular body (2) in correspondence of said first opening (40), said tubular body (2) and said first surface (21) forming a chamber for containing said preparation; and - a second surface (3) coupled to said tubular body (2) in such a way as to obstruct said second opening (23) and prevent the escape of said preparation, said biodegradable container (1) being characterized by comprising reinforcement means (4, 42, 49) associated with said side wall (22), and configured to oppose resistance to pressure acting on said biodegradable container (1) during the injection of said fluid solution under pressure.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A laminated packaging material biodegradable under uncontrolled composting conditions comprises a bioplastic sealant layer compostable under uncontrolled composting conditions, and a cellulose barrier layer compostable under uncontrolled composting conditions, wherein the barrier layer is bonded to the sealant layer with a water-based dry bond adhesive including a hydroxyl or an aziridine cross-linking coreactant and having polyurethanes or acrylics only in concentrations less than 0.1 % of the dry weight of the packaging material.
Abstract:
Present embodiments generally relate to a single-serve beverage cartridge for use with a single-serve coffee brewer. In some embodiments, the cartridge has a body portion, a first filter element, and a second filter element. The cartridge can include a single serving of coffee or another beverage component or precursor. The cartridge can be formed of a biodegradable and/or compostable material. In some embodiments, at least one of the filters is configured to stretch when pressed by a tamping head, thereby allowing the tamping head to be received in the cartridge to facilitate tamping of the beverage component or precursor.
Abstract:
Various apparatus and methods describe a bag holder to hold a bag. In some cases, a bag may be gripped between male and female parts of a bag holder. Contact areas between the male and female parts may distribute force over an area of the bag that may reduce tearing and/or undesired deformation of the bag. Frictional forces may hold a bag between male and female parts, and may at least partially result from compression between male and female parts. Various aspects provide for making a biodegradable bag. A laminate may be folded into a bag shape, and a seam between two polymer sides of the laminate may be bonded to form a bag. A bag may be fabricated from one laminate, from two laminates or more laminates. A roll of laminate may be formed into a roll of bags, and a perforation may be used to separate bags.
Abstract:
The invention provides a biodegradable packaging materi- al, a method of manufacturing the same, as well as products made of the material. The manufacture comprises extrusion onto a fibrous substrate (1) one or more polymer coating layers including at least one layer (2) of a polymer blend consisting of (i) 20–95 wt-% of polylactide having a high melt index of more than 35 g/10 min (210 °C; 2.16 kg), (ii) 5–80 wt-% of polybutylene succinate (PBS) or a biodegradable derivate thereof, and (iii) 0–5 wt-% of one or more polymeric additives. The components of the blend are melted and blended in connection with the extrusion step. The goal is to improve extrudability, increase ma- chine speed in extrusion and maintaining good adhesive- ness to the substrate and good heat-sealability of the coat- ing. The products include disposable drinking cups and board trays, as well as sealed carton packages for solids and liquids.
