Abstract:
A foldable plastic slider for straddling relation with a plastic fastener includes first and second profiles. The straddling slider is adapted to close or open the fastener by movement therealong. The slider comprises a transverse support member, first and second legs, first and second separating fingers, and first and second wings. The transverse support member includes first and second opposing sides, an interior surface, and an outer surface. The first and second legs depend from the respective first and second opposing sides of the support member. The first separating finger extends from the interior surface of the support member. The first separating finger is adapted to open the first and second profiles. The second separating finger extends from the interior surface of the support member. The first and second wings are hingedly attached to the respective first and second opposing sides. The first and second wings have respective first and second openings for receiving the respective first and second legs. The first and second wings have respective first and second cross pieces. Each of the cross pieces includes a main body member and a latch. The first and second wings are folded relative to the support member and each of the latches engages one of the respective legs to install the slider on the fastener.
Abstract:
A foldable plastic slider (10) closes or opens a plastic fastener including first and second profiles. The slider comprises a transverse support member (50) including first and second opposing sides. First and second legs (56, 58) depend from the respective first and second opposing sides of the member. A first separating finger (54) extends from an interior surface of the member and opens the fastener. The second separating finger (52) extends from the interior surface of the member. First and second wings (60, 62) are hingedly attached to the respective first and second opposing sides and have respective first and second openings receiving the respective first and second legs and respective first and second cross pieces (64, 66) with a latch (64a, 66a). The first and second wings are folded relative to the member and each of the latches engages one of the respective legs to install the slider on the fastener.
Abstract:
A portable disinfecting and disposal device (10) for medical waste (24, 26), wherein the device has a top portion (14) and a bottom portion (16). The bottom portion (16) includes structures for attaching the medical waste (24, 26) thereto. Such structures include adhesive areas (20) or foam or fibrous areas (22). The device top portion (14) includes a sealed chemically filled packet (28) for rendering harmless the medical waste (24, 26). Alternatively, the top portion (14) contains a disinfectant (45) that is released by sealed access openings (54). The top portion (14) is unsealed to release disinfecting chemical onto collected medical waste by removing a peelable cover (30, 64). The cover (30, 64) can be removed in whole or part by a peel tab (66) or strings (60) attached to the cover (30, 64).
Abstract:
A polymeric film having a plurality of perforations (31a, 31b, 32a, 32b), which are specially structured and arranged is described. The polymeric film provides a strong, high-tensile strength material that permits hand tearing of the film along a desired tear path, providing a controlled tear propagation line. The polymeric film may also be incorporated into a multi-layer film having cloth-like properties of strength and tear propagation, and is suitable for use various adhesive tape applications. Methods of making the polymeric film are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A pouch (10) for holding liquids includes a pre-inserted straw (20) within the pouch. A top end of the straw (20) is exposed by removing a portion (40) of the pouch (10). The pouch (10) includes a sealed top end (13), a sealed bottom end (14), and an intermediate seal (45) between the said top and bottom ends, and said removable portion (40) is located between said intermediate seal and said seal top end, said straw (20) extending from below said intermediate seal (45) to a position between said intermediate seal and said sealed top end.
Abstract:
A reducible volume container (12) includes a package wall having an interior surface and an exterior surface with at least one tear strip (16) formed in the package wall. The tear strip is defined by a pair of generally parallel frangible tear lines. Each tear line includes a pair of generally parallel creases formed on the interior surface of the package wall and a linear cut formed in the exterior of the package wall. The linear cut is disposed in an area between the parallel creases and has a depth extending only partly through the thickness of the package wall.
Abstract:
A method of making a container (10) having a unitary spout pull tab from a continuous sheet of flexible material (11) comprises the steps of folding the sheet to form two opposite side walls (23) joined at a bottom end by a bottom wall (20) and open at a top end opposite the bottom wall. Elongated portions of the two side walls are sealed together along their side edges to form two side seals (27) at least one of which includes a tab portion (12). Two breachably sealed V-folds (33, 34) are formed in the side walls adjacent the top end straddling the tab portion of the one side seal. Upon manually pulling the tab portion of the one side seal, the breachable seals of the V-folds straddling the tab portion of the one side seal may be broken and the two V-folds pulled outwardly to collectively form an open spout (S).
Abstract:
According to the present invention, a milk- or juice-containing paper pack is opened by drawing a tongue-shaped puller made of a polyethylene terephthalate film and bonded to the opening of the pack with a synthetic rubber adhesive such as nitrile rubber.
