Abstract:
A tool for use with a fastener is provided. Another aspect employs a removal tool (150, 170) for use with a photovoltaic fastener (1). In one aspect, a photovoltaic frame attachment apparatus includes a photovoltaic module including a peripheral frame (26), a strut or rail (12) and a snap-in clip or fastener (16). In another aspect, a single- piece fastener (16) includes at least one flexible wing (52) matable with an opening in a strut (12), a flexible tongue (80) internally projecting in a central manner from a top wall (56) of a body (50), and a slot (68) adapted to receive a portion of a photovoltaic panel frame (26). In a further aspect, a tool (150) is rotated to disengage a central tongue of a fastener from a photovoltaic frame (26). Yet another aspect employs a tool 170) to compress a finger and/or wing (52) to allow fastener (16) removal from a strut (12).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A pipe crimping apparatus comprises holding means (10) to externally engage and hold a joint to be crimped. The holding means (10) has a concavity in which a part cylindrical plate member (14) is secured, the concavity and plate member defining a part cylindrical clamping zone. One pair of crimping arms (16) is pivotally mounted on the holding means (10). Each arm (16) is movable relative to the clamping zone. Means (22) are provided to cause movement of the arms (16) relative to the clamping zone wherein the arms (16), in a crimping movement, extend radially into the clamping zone to engage a joint, and impress by indentation portions of an outer socket end onto an inner spigot end to secure same together.
Abstract:
A tool (10) for releasing a connector (12) from a fitting (18) coupled together by a retainer element (32) through movement of an integral release member (50) mounted in the connector (12). The tool (10) includes a pair of pivotally connected jaw levers (70, 72 and 112, 114), each with a bifurcated jaw end (84, 86 and 132, 134). The bifurcated jaws (84, 86 and 132, 134) engage the connector (12) and simultaneously slidably urge the release member (50) into the connector (12) to disengage the retainer element (32) from the fitting (18) to enable the de-coupling and separation of the fitting (18) and the connector (12). The jaws (70, 72, 112, 114) are of thin planer construction for insertion between the outer end of the release member (50) and surrounding structure where access space is limited.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A tool (10) includes first and second elongated members(16, 17), each member having a handle portion at one end and a jaw portion at an opposite end. Intermediate portions of the members are movably coupled to one another. Movement of the handle portions opens and closes the jaw portions. Each jaw portion includes a gripping surface (22, 23) configured to grip a workpiece. A pair of blade members (12, 13) are rigidly secured to the jaw portions, each blade member having a cutting edge (14, 15).
Abstract:
The device for the remote handling of equipment (4) for instance designed for mounting elastic rings (6) comprises a fixed jaw (8) and a mobile jaw (12) which moves linearly relative to the fixed jaw (8) by actuating means coupled to said equipment (4) by a cable (2) connected to the mobile jaw (12) inside a sheath (3) one end of which comes to stop (10) on the fixed jaw (8). The invention is characterised in that the actuating means consist of two branches (13, 14) articulated on a common axis (15) such that the distance between their free end (131, 141) is not less than the maximum displacement of the mobile jaw (12), when bringing closer the two handles (16, 17) respectively integral with the two branches (13, 14) of which the free end (131) of one (13) acts as a stop to the other end of the sheath (3) while allowing the cable (2) that is connected to the free end (141) of the other arm (14) to slide.
Abstract:
A pair of locking pliers (10) includes a body (12) having a fixed jaw (14) that supports a fixed extension (16). A movable jaw (22) is pivotally mounted to the body (12) by a hinge pin (26), and the movable jaw (22) includes a movable extension (28). An operating lever (34) is pivotally mounted to the movable jaw (22) to close the movable jaw (22), and the movable jaw (22) is shaped such that the movable extension (28) slides along the fixed extension (16) as the movable jaw (22) is pivoted closed with the operating lever (34) in order to provide an axial clamping action.
Abstract:
A hand tool for applying a ferrule (22) to a safety cable (20) is disclosed having a ferrule positioning device (52) to position the ferrule while a safety cable is placed therethrough, a tensioning mechanism (82) for applying tension to the cable, and a crimping mechanism (46, 50) to attach the ferrule to the safety cable. A pair of handles (26, 28) are pivotally attached to each other and are associated with the crimping mechanism such that when the handles are squeezed together, the crimping mechanism deforms the ferrule to attach it to the safety cable. The hand tool also incorporates a locking device (144) to prevent the handles from moving towards each other until a predetermined tension has been placed in the safety cable, and a ratchet device (112) to prevent the handles from returning to their initial positions until the ferrule has been properly crimped onto the safety cable.
