Abstract:
The invention relates to a hand-guided jig saw machine (10) comprising a jig saw blade (33) which can be detachably clamped between two essentially parallel limbs (221, 222), at the free ends thereof, and which can be driven, especially in a reciprocative manner, by a motor (11) that is integrated in the jig saw (10). Said limbs are preferably constructed of a U-shaped frame (22), especially having a tubular shape. A transversally projecting handle (13) comprising a switch button (15) of an on-off switch is arranged on the free end of one of the limbs (221, 222). A light, compact and cost-efficient hand-guided jig saw machine can be produced by virtue of the fact that the lower limb (221) supports, especially in a base housing (12), both the motor (11) and the transmission means (114, 115, 116, 119, 67) which effect the reciprocative motion of the saw blade (33), whereby a motor shaft (1103) is coupled to a crankshaft (116) in a manner that is parallel to the limb (221). Said crankshaft is coupled via a connecting rod (67) to a flexible abutment (51, 57) for clamping the saw blade (33).
Abstract:
Improvements are provided to improve an apparatus and method for processing a substantially constant velocity flow of a web (24) of material, including a cutting mechanism (19) and a web accumulator (19) upstream of the cutter. The improvements include stopping the web by a side surface (38) of the movable blade (164) and configuring the accumulator dimensions and cutting speed to cause an appropriate level of force between the upstream severed end (40) of the web and the blade. Several features achieve a low cutting time and modify cutting force to cut web regions with different characteristics. A low inertia rotary solenoid (Fig. 10) accelerates a blade through the web and against a resilient stop (176, 178). The blade bounces off of the stop (176) to its spring-biased home position. A permanent magnet (180) or electromagnet (182) holds the blade in the home position as solenoid current develops. The result is reduced noise and shorter cutting time.
