Abstract: A system and method for guiding a user in administration of a fluid to a subject are described herein. The fluid, which may contain medication, is introduced to the subject by an elongated tube with visual, tactile, or both visual and tactile indicators disposed near the distal and/or proximal ends of the elongated tube, the indicators meant to ensure the correct fluid enters the correct elongated tube and is delivered to the subject. A reference chart with tubing information and tubing accessories may also be used to further ensure that the correct fluid enters the correct elongated tube.

Abstract: A selective coupling of a bladder and a bucket of a blood separation system includes mating an integrated connector of the bladder with a receiver disposed in the bucket without disassembling the bucket from the blood separation system. The receiver includes a locking receptacle and is mounted to a portion of the bucket. The integrated connector of the bladder selectively engages with the receiver. When engaged, the connector is locked to the receiver via a locking latch. To disengage the bladder from the bucket, a technician releases the locking latch and removes the bladder from the bucket without disassembling the bucket or the bladder. The engagement and disengagement is performed with a quick interconnect operation. The integrated connector and the receiver are valveless and provide an unimpeded flow path from a fluid source to the bladder.

Abstract: A microsurgical instrument includes a cannula head rotationally coupled to a handpiece. A cannula head connector at a distal end of the handpiece rotationally couples to a handpiece connector at a proximal end of the cannula head. The cannula head connector and handpiece connector rotate coaxially about a longitudinal center axis passing through a cannula extending from the cannula head, providing an adjustable cannula angle between the cannula head and handpiece. The cannula head is securely retained to the handpiece without slippage changing the cannula angle, and the cannula angle is easily changed to a new value by deliberate rotation of the cannula head.

Abstract: A system for delivering a flowable, therapeutic composition, such as a flowable hemostat, biologics, or a medicine paste, includes a cannula having a proximal end with a proximal opening, a distal end with a distal opening, and an elongated lumen extending from the proximal end to the distal end. The flowable, therapeutic composition fills the elongated lumen of the cannula, and a piston is disposed within the elongated lumen for sealing the proximal end of the cannula. An end cap is secured to the distal end of the cannula. A pump assembly includes a fluid and is coupled with the proximal end of the cannula. After the end cap, is removed, the pump assembly is operable to pump the fluid for directing the fluid to flow through the proximal opening of the cannula to force the piston to slide toward the distal end of the cannula to express the flowable, therapeutic composition from the distal end of the cannula.
