The device (100) includes a frame (102); a winding reel (104) mounted for rotation and translation; an elongated swing arm (108) with an attachment end (108a) being pivotably connected to the frame and an opposite application end (108b); and a pivoting head (110) disposed at the application end of the swing arm that contacts a product reel (200) when the swing arm is in an application position, the head having an upper roller (110a) and a lower roller (110b) rotatably mounted relative to an applicator (110c) that pivots about an axis of rotation so that the head (110) pivots between an attachment position and a retrieval position.

A tensioner (28) for controlling tension in a continuous web (12) being wound onto a rewind roller (30) after the web (12) is processed, for example after printing on labels carried on the web. The tensioner (28) receives the web (12) from a processor (10) and has a slack sensor (38) between the processor (12) and the input of the tensioner (28). The slack sensor (38) indicates when the slack is a selected minimum, and the web (12) is clamped by the tensioner (28). After a selected time, which is before the slack sensor (38) indicates a maximum slack is present, the motor (34) driving the rewind roller (30) is stopped and the web (12) is undamped. After unclamping the web, the rewind roller (30) is again driven at a speed to take up more of the web (12) than that which is driven by the processor (10), to wrap the web (12) around the rewind roller core (32) until the slack sensor (38) indicates the slack in the web (12) is at a minimum.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung (20) zum Aufwickeln einer längsgeschnittenen Materialbahn mit mehreren Längsstreifen (12) auf eine Mehrzahl von Wickelhülsen (16) jeweils zu einer Wickelrolle. Die Vorrichtung weist eine Achse (24) und eine Mehrzahl von auf der Achse aufsitzenden ringförmigen Wickelantriebe (22) auf, die in ihrer Betriebsposition individuell ansteuerbar sind. Auf ihrer Außenseite sind die Wickelantriebe jeweils zur Aufnahme einer Wickelhülse (16) für die Aufwicklung eines Längsstreifens (12) der Materialbahn eingerichtet. Jeder Wickelantrieb (22) bildet einen AußenläuferElektromotor und umfasst eine statische Innenhülse (40) und eine drehbare Außenhülse (50). Dabei sitzt die statische Innenhülse (40) verdrehgesichert auf der Achse (24) auf. Sie trägt auf ihrer Außenseite einen Stator (44) mit Statorwicklungen des Elektromotors, sowie Wälzlager (48) zur Aufnahme der drehbaren Außenhülse.
