摘要:
Glass separation apparatus can comprise a first vacuum port facing a first side of a glass ribbon travel path. The glass separation apparatus can further comprise a first gas knife comprising a first gas outlet facing the first side of the glass ribbon travel path. The first gas outlet can define a first sheet plane intersecting the first side of the glass ribbon travel path. The first sheet plane can be at least partially located upstream from the first vacuum port. In further embodiments, methods of separating a glass ribbon can comprise intersecting a first gas sheet with the first major surface of the glass ribbon at a first intersection axis extending across a travel direction and located upstream from a separation path. The methods can further comprise separating the glass ribbon along the separation path and shielding glass particles generated during the separating with the first gas sheet.

A strengthened glass sheet product as well as a process and an apparatus for making the product. The process comprises cooling the glass sheet by non-contact thermal conduction for sufficiently long to fix a surface compression and central tension of the sheet. The process results in thermally strengthened glass sheets having improved breakage properties.

Embodiments of a method of forming a glass article are disclosed. The methods include supplying a glass ribbon in a first direction and redirecting the glass ribbon to a second direction different from the first direction without contacting the glass ribbon with a solid material. The glass ribbon may exhibit a viscosity of less than about 108 Poise and a thickness of about 1 mm or less. Embodiments of a glass or glass-ceramic forming apparatus are also disclosed. The apparatus may include a glass feed device for supplying a glass ribbon in a first direction and a redirection system disposed underneath the glass feed device for redirecting the glass ribbon to a second direction. In one or more embodiments, the redirection system comprising at least one gas bearing system for supplying a gas film to support the glass ribbon.

A pressure pad array is used to float glass sheets from a glass heating furnace to a ring mold in a press bending station. The pressure pads have transversely spaced, longitudinally-extending slotted nozzles angles towards one another to provide a static pressure area for floating the glass sheet. The slotted nozzles are aligned with the direction of glass sheet travel and the space between adjacent pressure pads is covered by a spacer baffle to generate additional static pressure flotation areas. The static pressure areas formed by the slotted nozzles generally produce uniform pressure profiles extending longitudinally and transversely against the sheet's underside to stably float the glass sheets on a heated gas cushion.

The invention relates to a method for bending an outer and an inner glass pane of bent composite security glass sheets according to a predetermined curvature. The bending press has a bending station, an outer glass pane discharging station, an inner glass pane discharging station, and a transport shuttle between the bending station and the discharging station. The glass panes which are to be bent are introduced into the bending station one by one using a transfer path and are bent in the bending station according to the predetermined curvature of the composite security glass sheets. The outer and the inner glass panes are subjected to optimized bending in the discharging station allocated thereto at a temperature which still lies in the lower bending temperature range. In order to carry out said bending process, the glass panes are lifted from the transport shuttle by means of a take-out device with at least one optimizing contour in its edge area. The glass panes are placed on the optimizing contour and undergo optimized bending as a result. The invention also relates to an installation for implementing said method.

A process for thermally strengthening a glass article comprising first conveying a glass article, having a temperature above a transition point of the glass of the article, into position between two fluid bearing surfaces then moving the fluid bearing surfaces toward the glass article and cooling the glass article, with at least 20% of said cooling taking place by conduction from the glass article to the fluid bearing surfaces. Apparatuses for performing the process and products resulting are also disclosed.
