    Abstract: A fertilizer composition includes coated urea ammonium sulfate particles, the coated urea ammonium sulfate particles including: a urea core; a first coating comprising urea sulfate; and a second coating comprising ammonium sulfate. Methods for making coated urea ammonium sulfate particles include: (a) combining urea particles with sulfuric acid to form intermediate particles including a first coating including urea sulfate; and (b) combining the intermediate particles with ammonia or an ammonium compound to form the coated urea ammonium sulfate particles, wherein the coated urea ammonium sulfate particles include a urea core, the first coating comprising urea sulfate, and a second coating including ammonium sulfate.

    Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing an ammonium-based solid, particulate composition comprising an additive in a plant comprising a liquid section and a solid section comprising a particulation unit and an effluent gas treatment unit comprising a scrubber, a scrubber solution storage container and optionally a scrubber evaporator, the method comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a melt comprising an ammonium salt in the liquid section of the plant; (b) particulating the melt prepared in step (a) in the particulation unit thereby obtaining an ammonium-based solid, particulate composition and an effluent gas comprising ammonia; (c) preparing an aqueous scrubbing solution; (d) treating the effluent gas comprising ammonia from the particulation unit with the aqueous scrubbing solution prepared in step (c) in the scrubber of the effluent gas treatment unit thereby producing a scrubber solution; (e) storing the scrubber solution produced in step d) in the scrubber solution storage of the effluent gas treatment unit; and (f) optionally, concentrating the scrubber solution from the scrubber solution storage container in the scrubber evaporator thereby obtaining a concentrated scrubber solution; (g) adding the scrubber solution obtained from step e) or f) to the melt comprising an ammonium salt; wherein an additive is added in solid form to any one or more of the aqueous scrubbing solution prepared in step c), the scrubber solution in the scrubber solution storage, or the scrubber concentrator, and the additive is a nitrification inhibitor or a stabilizer for a nitrification inhibitor.

    Abstract: A granular composition for agricultural coatings is disclosed. The granular composition is made up of a plurality of granulates having at least one biodegradable coating applied over the granulates. The granulates are selected from the group consisting of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. The biodegradable coating is made up of polyhydroxy alkanoates, such as monomer residues of 3 -hydroxybutyrate and monomer residues of 3 -hydroxyhexanoate.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of coating a granular material comprising the steps of (a) providing a granular substance; (b) providing a compound (C) which has at least one ester bond and which is obtainable by reacting a hydroxyl group or epoxy group of a compound (A) with a carboxyl group or anhydride group of a compound (B); (c) providing a compound (D) having at least one epoxy group; (d) reacting compound (C) with the epoxy group of compound (D) to produce compound (E) having an ester bond; wherein the reaction of compound (C) with compound (D) takes place in the presence of the granular material and optionally a curing agent to provide a coated granular material; and wherein the compound (A) has at least one hydroxyl group or epoxy group and is selected from fatty acid ester and fatty acid; and the compound (B) is selected from: compound (B-1) having at least two carboxyl groups; and compound (B-2) having at least one cyclic anhydride group. Furthermore, the invention relates to a coated granular material obtainable by the process according to the invention and to a kit comprising compound (C) and compound (D) and optionally a curing agent.
