Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are described comprising polymerized units derived from alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer(s) and a crosslinking monomer comprising at least two terminal groups selected from allyl, methallyl, or combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the pressure sensitive adhesive composition is a syrup or the reaction product of a syrup comprising i) a free-radically polymerizable solvent monomer; and ii) a solute (meth)acrylic polymer. The syrup or the (meth)acrylic solute polymer comprises polymerized units derived from the crosslinking monomer. Also described are pressure sensitive adhesive articles and methods.

Plant oil-based compounds are provided which possess both low viscosity and high reactive functionality. These compounds are useful in coating and composite applications, as well as related methods. Exemplary compounds can be produced by transesterification of a plant oil triglyceride with a nucleophile reactant, such as a vinyl-functional alcohol, to yield reactive fatty acid-containing monomers.

A polymerizable liquid-crystal composition containing a polymerizable liquid-crystalline compound, which shows a nematic phase at low temperatures, has excellent compatibility with other polymerizable liquid-crystalline compounds to be used in combination therewith, and gives through polymerization a polymer excellent in transparency and mechanical strength. The polymerizable composition shows a liquid-crystal phase and contains a compound (I) having a liquid-crytalline skeleton with two or more rings and a segment structure represented by the general formula P -S -A -D -E - [wherein P is a polymerizable functional group; S is -(CH2)w-, -O(CH2)w-, -(CH2)wO-, -(CH2)wC(=O)O-, -(CH2)wOC(=O)-, -C(=O)O(CH2)w-, or -OC(=O)(CH2)w- (w is 1 to 20); A and E each is a hydrocarbon ring or heterocycle or E is one of the rings contained in the liquid-crystalline skeleton; and D is -C(=O)-O-(CH2)m-O-, -O(CH2)m-O-C(=O)-, -O-C(=O)-(CH2)m-O-, or -O-(CH2)m-C(=O)-O- (m is 1 to 15)].
