Abstract:
Methods for converting waste streams from the wood pulping industry to high-value surfactants are described. For example, isolated lignin and lignosulfonate or waste streams containing lignin and lignosulfonate can be directly converted to surfactants, or they can be first converted to methylol derivatives and treated with further reagents to produce surfactants.
Abstract:
A multi-functional low VOC liquid hard surface treating composition is described which includes (1) a surfactant system including at least two surfactants, (2) at least one alkylene glycol alkyl ether, at least two solvents including an alcohol and a glycol and at least one detergent, water as carrier. The at least two surfactants include an anionic surfactant and either a polymer surfactant or a nonionic surfactant. The surfactant system and alkylene glycol alkyl ether have a synergistic effect to provide anti - fogging, anti - streaking, and cleaning benefits to a hard surface treated with the composition.
