Abstract: A ladder and ladder accessory are provided including an accessory that may be coupled to the ladder in multiple configurations and serve multiple purposes. In one embodiment, a pair of components are each selectively coupled with associated rails of a ladder in a first, stored state, and a second, walkthrough state. When in the walkthrough state, the components extend upwards from and above the rails so that a user may gasp the components and step between the components when transitioning from the ladder to an elevated surface (e.g., a roof) or vice versa. In another embodiment, the components may be coupled to the ladder such that they extend in a direction that is substantially transverse to a plane through which the rails extend. When in this transverse orientation, the components may be used as a stand-off device.

Abstract: The current invention is directed to a clamping assembly for clamping a ladder to a support such a roof gutter wall or scaffolding tubing. The clamping assembly includes a pair of opposing arms hinged together and spring biased to assist in locating the clamping arms about the support. The inner side of the clamping arm has a recess to accommodate the support or part thereof. The clamping assembly has a fastener to fix the clamping arms in position and a securing means such as a fixed chain to position about the stile or rung of a ladder. The clamping assembly provides the advantage that a section of the clamping arms clamps to a section of the support thereby providing a clamping force over a sectional area rather than at a single point.

Abstract: A ladder stabiliser (10) is shown stabilising a ladder (11) where respective ladder rails (12) and (13) pass through rail clamp sections (14) and (15) so that the feet (16) and (17) of the ladder engage the ground. The stabiliser has feet (18) and (19) which also engage the ground. These are at the end of a rail providing respective outriggers (20) and (21) so that the stabilising forces and moments are across the bottom of the ladder. Clamps make the whole stabiliser and ladder rigid. Rails (12) and (13) are clamped in the clamp sections (14) and (15) which are in turn clamped along the outriggers, the feet are also clamped in height adjustable position. Hand operable screw clamps (22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27) permit adjustment so that the legs and rails and clamp sections may be positioned to best stabilise the ladder (11). Each foot assembly (28, 29) includes an outer guideway in the form of a collar (30) welded and (31) welded to the outriggers and slidable leg sections (32, 33). The leg sections have a respective pivoting foot (18,19) and a cap (34, 35) so that the foot (18, 19) and caps (34,35) prevent the post part (32, 33) from being removed from the guide collar. Each of the rail clamp sections are housing slidable along the outriggers by reason of collars (36, 37). All parts are non-removable.
