An improved safety actuator for an AK-47 firearm. The improved actuator utilizes a conventional receiver actuator modified to include a grip arm. The internal mechanism of the improved actuator and the conventional actuator are identical. This allows replacement of the conventional actuator with an improved actuator during field stripping, with no gun smithing. A grip arm depends from the receiver actuator, preferably from the receiver actuator's pivot point. The grip arm is aligned with the rifle's pistol grip. The shooter can control the safety actuator by squeezing the grip arm onto the pistol grip with his dominant hand. Thus, the safety may be moved from a safe position to a fire position without removing either hand from a sound firing position. The grip arm may be provided with a push bar to facilitate use of the dominant thumb to return the safety actuator to a safe position.

Safety device for a portable long-barrelled firearm or pneumatic weapon (10), said weapon (A) being gripped by a user with both hands and comprising: a firing mechanism, including at least one trigger (11) operated by the user's hand, a grip (12) held by the user's other hand, and a selective locking mechanism (100) of said firing mechanism, operatively switchable from a deactivated position, in which it allows firing of the weapon, to an activated position, in which it prevents firing of the weapon. According to the invention, said device comprises: means to control the operating condition of said locking mechanism of said firing mechanism (13), which are provided in said grip (12) and, when the weapon is gripped correctly and naturally by the user, automatically cause deactivation of said selective locking mechanism (100), allowing firing of the weapon (A), while, when said grip (12) is released by the user, automatically cause activation of said locking mechanism of said firing mechanism, preventing firing of said weapon (A).

A firearm safety apparatus is provided that includes two or more locking arms connected by a hinge and configured to engage a trigger guard of a firearm when the locking arms are in a closed position. A locking mechanism retains the arms in a closed position until opened by an activation signal. A firearm safety apparatus is also provided that includes a housing connected to a firearm. A trigger guard cover is slideably or hingably connected to the housing. A locking mechanism is coupled to the trigger guard cover to surround a trigger of the firearm until an activation signal is received. The locking mechanism exposes the trigger through a hinged or slide motion. The housing is amenable to inclusion of various tactical accessories such as a light source or a camera.
