Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of marking at least one object or a subject of interest in situ during an ongoing event, for tracking and/or future detection purposes. Specifically, the present invention is directed to a method for marking at least one object or a subject of interest using at least one non-toxic composition comprising at least one photoluminescent compound, and detecting and/or tracking the at least one marked object or subject of interest, using at least one specialized detection device. The photoluminescent compound can be a fluorescent or phosphorescent compound which emits radiation in the infrared (IR) spectrum, visible light spectrum, or both.
Abstract:
Spotter ammunition projectiles adapted to be fired from a firearm, methods for making spotter ammunition projectiles, and spotter ammunition cartridges including spotter ammunition projectiles are provided. In one example, a spotter ammunition projectile includes a projectile body section extending in a distal direction to a body distal end portion. A projectile ogive is coupled to the body distal end portion and has an outer ogive surface that tapers in the distal direction towards a shoulder. The projectile ogive includes a post that is disposed adjacent to the shoulder and that extends therefrom in the distal direction. An ogive nose cap is disposed adjacent to the shoulder and covers the post. The post and the ogive nose cap are cooperatively configured to define a cavity therebetween. A pyrotechnic spotter composition is disposed in the cavity.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A cartridge incorporating a projectile assembly, the projectile assembly having a base, mid body component housing a marking powder and lighter metallic nose cap. The projectile's mid-body component undergoes wall failure at impact, the wall failure is induced as forward momentum of the base and other residual forces act to expel the marking powder from the projectile, the manner of ejection suspending a low density material with contrast dye, in the vicinity of the impact, providing a gunner with visual cue in regard to a projectile's impact location.
Abstract:
A new and novel non-lethal pellet shaped marking round for use with air rifles or air pistols, which utilizes the technology and ballistics of a bullet-shaped pellet projectile, and is designed to travel through a rifled barrel or a polygonal rifling barrel. Also disclosed is a novel non-lethal marking round pellet designed with grooves which imitate the spiral caused by a rifled barrel while utilizing a smooth bore barrel.
Abstract:
A multiple-part marking system that comprises at least one first part comprising at least one oxalate ester, at least one fluorescer, and at least one inorganic salt; and at least one second part comprising at least one peroxide and at least one catalyst, wherein the at least one inorganic salt is chosen from sodium thiosulphate, potassium thiosulphate, cobalt acetate, copper acetate, lead acetate, cupric chloride, ferric chloride, calcium iodide, potassium iodide, and silver nitrate. Light and heat are emitted when the two parts interact.
Abstract:
A high angle-of -attack projectile or bomb comprises separate compartments that, after launch allow for (a) mixing of the chemi-luminescent materials, (b) heating of the materials in the projectile vessel, (c) pressurization of the projectile vessel, and (d) efficient expulsion of a day marker and heated chemi-luminescent mix upon striking the target. The projectile/bomb allows for the marking of targets. The projectile/bomb does not create unexploded ordnance (UXO) and minimizes use of energetic materials such as reactive chemicals and/or pyrotechnics.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Projectiles (2110) and projectile systems are provided employing an inhibiting substance. The system includes a first part (2113) being non-spherical and having an exterior, a plurality of stabilizing fins (2118) secured with the exterior of the first part and a second part (2112) having a hollow portion containing an inhibiting substance, wherein the second part is sealed with the first part to seal the inhibiting substance within the hollow portion.
Abstract:
Light emitting rigid, fracturable projectile-type marking ammunition and an electronic strobe flash apparatus for use with air powered guns are provided. The marking ammunition is in the form of a phosphorus paintball. The electronic strobe flash apparatus comprises an exciter adaptable for use with paintball guns for exciting the phosphorus paintball to emit light. The exciter couples to the muzzle of a paintball gun. The light emitting paintball provides a luminous trail when discharged from the paintball gun. A paintball according to the instant invention comprises a spherical pellet or capsule defining an interior chamber, and a filler contained in the chamber. In one embodiment, the capsule is impregnated with a phosphorescent material. In an alternative embodiment, a phosphorescent material is mixed with the filler. The phosphorus material absorbs light when exposed to a light source, and after the light source is removed, emits light. A paintball being discharged from a paintball gun enters the exciter. Upon detecting the presence of a paintball, the exciter is triggered to produce a high intensity light. Light is absorbed by the phosphorescent material. After the light is removed, the phosphorus material continues to emit light. Paintballs according to the instant invention discharged through the exciter provide a luminous trail and thus, may be used effectively in the dark.
