Abstract:
A stringed instrument fret filing tool and a method of making the fret filing tool. The fret filing tool includes a body having more than one major surface and numerous minor surfaces that defines a substantially planar profile. The planar profile is sized to a length that engages with three frets on a fretboard of a stringed instrument. Each of the minor surfaces defines a different length than the other minor surfaces. A file is formed on a middle portion along each of the lengths of the minor surfaces and opposing end portions are formed on the length of each minor surface and are disposed astride the file. During use of the fret filing tool, the file may glide along a raised fret and file the raised fret until it is the same height as the adjacent frets.
Abstract:
A foldable stringed instrument having a neck and/or body that may assume a reduced profile by folding an upper neck portion away from the playing position through the use of a translating bridge assembly and a translating truss assembly, wherein the foldable stringed instrument is capable of housing or otherwise being coupled to any of a variety of electronics or electrical components (e.g. a smart phone or tablet computer) having one or more applications (apps) for driving the operation, functionality and/or effects associated with the foldable stringed instrument.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a stringed instrument employing a bridge coupled to the soundboard of the instrument via a plate. By selecting the material composition of the bridge and controlling the coupling between the bridge and the soundboard, an aspect of the present disclosure provides for different tonal enhancements and/or tonal transmissions between the bridge and the soundboard. The bridge can be part of an assembly also including a plate and one or more connectors configured to connect the bridge and plate through a soundboard. The bridge can define various different recesses which may be connected to one another for ease of use, and may have a flat, bottom surface for contacting a soundboard. The bottom surface may also be non-flat, textured, and/or include recesses.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate generally to guitars or other string instruments (10) that incorporate materials that are lighter than wood. Rather than achieving weight reduction by solely removing wood, which can weaken the structural integrity of the guitar and negatively alter sound quality, this disclosure provides replacement of removed wood with materials (16) commonly used in aerospace.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a guitar (1) comprising a base body (2) having at least one cavity (5) inside it and a front element (3) of the base body (2), said front element (3) being engaged to the base body (2) on the top of the latter, at least partially closing the cavity (5). The base body (2) and the front element (3) define a sound box at the cavity (5). The front element (3) comprises at least one slab of stone and at least one carbon fibre lining layer applied on a surface of the stone slab so as to stabilize and reinforce the stone slab. The base body (2) comprises a slab (2a) of stone and a lateral wall (2b) emerging from the stone slab (2a); the surfaces of the slab (2a) and lateral wall (2b) facing the cavity (5) are lined with a layer of carbon fibre so as to stabilize and reinforce the base body (2).

Abstract:
The present invention concerns a tuning pin block assembly (4) for a piano, the assembly comprising one or more elements (5) formed of wood based material, plastic or other material suitable for holding a tuning pin, the one or more elements having multiple bores for receiving tuning pins, said elements being provided within a fibre composite material. The present invention further relates to a method of forming a block of fibre composite material having a plurality of apertures; curing said block; and plugging each of said apertures with wood based material, plastic or other material suitable for holding a tuning pin.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to soundboards that combine layers of wood and composite materials in a novel manner, and provides methods of making such soundboards that can support a high volume manufacturing plan. The soundboards of the present disclosure exhibit superior thermal and dimensional stability, and superior sound quality.

Abstract:
There is provided a recording and playback system and method thereof for musical instruments, in particular within a guitar. The system includes a device for recording and playback installed within a guitar and a memory data storage device for recording audio from the guitar, playback of audio, and transferring of audio to a computer system for playback and manipulation. A software program is used for converting the recorded audio file into a playable format for a computer system.
