Abstract:
Motion sensor apparatus includes opposing motion detector assemblies that include rolling ball electrical connectors oriented to operate when the device is inverted.
Abstract:
A pre-selector of a tap changer is provided with an operating arrangement, which provide varying speed for the movable contact of the pre-selector. The arrangement is provided in a cylindrical tap changer (10) that includes a cylinder (24) provided with tap contacts and pre-selector contacts (25-27) extending inside the cylinder, the arrangement comprises a contact carrier (9) provided with at least one movable contact (8) for mating the pre-selector contacts of the cylinder (24), and a drive mechanism (21) for providing a rotational movement to the contact carrier (9), which contact carrier (9) during use is rotated by means of the drive mechanism (21) so that the movable contact (8) selectively mate with the pre-selector contacts (25-27) on the inside of the cylinder. The arrangement is characterised in that the drive mechanism (21) is operatively connected to the contact carrier (9) via a staggering mechanism (1) arranged to provide a rotation with varying angular velocity to the contact carrier (9).
Abstract:
The subject matter described herein relates to voltage controlled reconfiguration of liquid metal structures. According to one exemplary method, a container is provided. An electrolyte is provided in the container. A liquid metal structure is provided in the container and at least partially in contact with the electrolyte. A voltage is applied between the liquid metal structure and the electrolyte to change the shape of the liquid metal structure such that the structure achieves a desired shape for an electrical, optical, mechanical, or thermal application.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a self-recovering current-limiting device containing liquid metal. The inventive device comprises solid metal electrodes (13) provided for connecting to an external electric circuit to be protected and comprises a plurality of compressor spaces (19) which are partially filled with liquid metal (3), are arranged one behind the other between the electrodes (13), and which are formed by pressure-resistant insulating bodies and by insulating parting walls (17) with connecting channels (21). The aim of the invention is to economically produce and to easily adjust the desired nominal current range. To this end, the invention provides an enclosing insulating shaped housing which consists of a trough-like bottom part (7) and of a cover (9) that tightly closes the same via non-positive and/or positive connecting means. The parting walls (17) and the bottom part (7) are interconnected as one piece. The connecting channels (21) are configured as longitudinal holes which are open at the top. The electrodes (13) are mounted in the bottom part (7).
