    Abstract: A cable sleeve comprises a housing, a locking cam, and a locking pawl. The housing has an elongate member passage configured to slidably receive an elongate member and has a cavity. The locking cam and the locking pawl are pivotally connected to the housing within the cavity. The locking cam has a radial edge with a constant radius relative to a pivot connection between the locking cam and the housing and is configured to move from a first cam position to a second cam position configured to engage the elongate member in the elongate member passage with the radial edge. The locking pawl is configured to move from a first pawl position to a second pawl position configured to move the locking cam into the second cam position to engage the elongate member.

    Abstract: An energy absorber device for use in a fall protection system has an energy absorber in the form of an elongate flexible element having first end spaced apart from and a second end. A containment structure (such as a housing or jacket) contains the energy absorber in an un- deployed state and has a first end secured with respect to the elongate flexible element near the first end of the elongate flexible element. The second end of the containment structure has a deployment exit such that in the event of deployment of the energy absorber arrangement, the elongate flexible element is pulled through the deployment exit. The device provides for easier deployment of the elongate flexible element than other designs employing hard shell casings or housings. Movement on the elongate flexible element is also highly resisted.

    Abstract: A bailout and force damping system that progressively arrests a first force imparted by an object moving in a first direction is disclosed. The bailout and force damping system can include a force damper member, a reinforced bailout lanyard optionally including a tear-away portion, and a force absorbing belt/harness. The force damper member includes an elastically deformable compression member and a plastically deformable sacrificial elongatable member. The force absorbing belt/harness can include a hip/waist belt portion, a chest/shoulder harness portion, and a thigh portion. The hip/waist belt portion includes a mid-body harness connection member capable of connecting a terminal end of the reinforced bailout lanyard, and includes a plastically sacrificial elongatable portion that is plastically deformable when a force is applied. The chest/shoulder portion include an upper body connection member configured to pass the reinforced bailout lanyard therethrough to maintain the wearer in an upright position during/after a fall.

    Abstract: An apparatus and an associated method relates to a directionally polarized deceleration module (PDM) include a shuttle (125) fixedly coupled to a spring-biased spool (120) rotatable coupled to a module housing (115), a dynamic braking member (DBM) (130) and the shuttle (125) configured to travel inside a channel anchored to the module housing (115). A tether may be anchored on a proximal end to the spool (120). As the tether is retracted, the DBM (130) may be pushed by an angled distal-end of the shuttle (125). The DBM (130) may be forced between the angled distal-end of the shuttle (125) and an inner channel wall, providing motional resistance to the tether. As the tether is extracted, the DBM (130) may be pushed substantially normal to a proximal-end of the shuttle (125), providing minimal motional resistance to the tether. Various PDMs may decelerate safety lanyards in one direction to substantially avoid tangling and/or damage.
