본 발명은 염료 승화형 프린터와 이를 이용한 인쇄방법에 관한 것으로서, 보다 상세하게는 슬라이드 플레이트의 진퇴에 따라 픽업롤러의 승강과 플래튼롤러의 승강 및 테이크업 릴기어의 구동을 유기적으로 제어할 수 있는 염료 승화형 프린터와 이를 이용한 인쇄방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 염료 승화형 프린터는 양방향으로 구동하는 픽업 모터; 상기 픽업 모터의 구동력이 전달되며, 일측에 회전돌기가 구비되고, 양축이 프레임에 지지되는 아이들 기어; 외측에는 상기 회전돌기가 구속되는 가이드홈이 종방향으로 형성되는 픽업 플레이트; 상기 아이들 기어의 축을 중심으로 회전하는 픽업레버; 및 상기 픽업레버의 타측에 연결되어 기록매체의 상부에서 승강하는 픽업롤러;를 포함한다.
Abstract:
A retransfer printing process that prevents dust and other contaminants from becoming statically or otherwise attached to the transfer layer of the retransfer film and/or to the print ribbon used to print on the retransfer film. In the described process, some or all of the unused retransfer film is rewound back onto the retransfer film supply and/or some or all of the unused print ribbon is rewound onto the print ribbon supply, for example until the next print job is submitted.

Abstract:
A tape drive for use in for example transfer printing apparatus to drive a printer ribbon (6). The printer ribbon is mounted on two spools (17,11) each of which is driven by a respective stepper motor (2, 3). A controller controls the energisation of the motor such that the ribbon is transported in at least one direction between spools mounted on the spool support. The controller is operative to energise both motors to drive the spools of ribbon in the direction of ribbon transport to achieve push-pull operations. Ribbon tension is monitored to enable accurate control of ribbon supply and ribbon take up, the ribbon tension being monitored by monitoring power supply to the two stepper motors.

The device comprises an original reel (1) of a thermal ink ribbon (2), a rewind reel (5), traction means and at least one marking head. The device ensures that all segments of the ribbon between markings are used. The device is characterized in that it comprises a movable support (6) in which the ribbon is guided (2) in such a way that it carries out an additional run (16). It also comprises braking means (10, 11, 12, 14) of the original reel (1) so that it forces the support (6) to move by overcoming the action of an elastic element (13) thereby reducing the additional run (16) when the ribbon is pulled (2) and the original reel is locked by the braking means. After a marking (a-b), the ribbon, and, hence, the support (6), are rewound by the action of the elastic element (13) to make the next marking (b-d) right after the previous marking. The braking means are actuated by the support (6) in such a way that they are released after one or several markings. A certain amount of ribbon (2) is then unwound from the original reel (2), the reel is then stopped once again by the braking means and the process is repeated. The invention is used in markings with thermal heads.

A constant pressure spring system particularly adapted for typewriter cartridges, clips, and hinges, has a V-shaped configuration and comprises first and second arms and a pair of coil springs, one of the coil springs pivotally receiving a fixed axle and extending from the first arm, and the other coil spring extending from the second arm. The spring system operates to maintain a substantially constant and limited load on the second arm when the first arm is moved within an angle up to 90 degrees.

A method of operating a transfer printer (1), the transfer printer comprising first and second spool supports each being configured to support a spool (3,4) of ribbon (2), a ribbon drive configured to cause movement of ribbon (2) from the first spool support to the second spool support along a predetermined ribbon path, and a printhead (7), the printhead being configured to selectively transfer ink from the ribbon to a substrate as the substrate is moved relative to the printhead in a direction of substrate movement. The method comprises driving the ribbon in a direction parallel to the direction of substrate movement, printing a first plurality of images onto a first respective plurality of substrates, driving the ribbon in a direction opposite to the direction of substrate movement, driving the ribbon in the direction parallel to the direction of substrate movement, and printing a second plurality of images onto a second respective plurality of substrates. Printing each image of the first and second pluralities of images results in corresponding pluralities of first (15 a, b, c) and second (16 a, b, c) negative images being formed on the ribbon, wherein each negative image of the first plurality of negative images (15 a, b, c) is located adjacent a negative image of the second plurality of negative images (16 a, b, c) on the ribbon.
