Abstract: The disclosure relates to a process to produce a composition of polyethylene comprising postconsumer resin for the production of caps and closures, comprising in the steps of providing from 20 wt.% to 85 wt.% of a component A being one or more polyethylene post-consumer resins having a melt index ranging from 0.8 to 3.0 g/10 min, and a density ranging from 0.940 to 0.965 g/cm3; providing a component B being a polyethylene resin having a melt index (MI2) ranging from 0.2 to 1.2 g/10 min, and a density ranging from 0.935 to 0.955 g/cm3; and a multimodal molecular weight distribution, wherein the component B is selected to have a melt index that is equal or inferior to the melt index (MI2) of the component A and to have a molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn which is at most 14.0 as determined by gel permeation chromatography; and blending the components to form a composition having a melt index ranging from 0.8 to 3.0 g/10 min; wherein the composition has an environmental stress crack resistance of at least 360 hours according to ASTM D1693-15 at 100% Igepal and 50 °C and a weight-average molecular weight Mw of at least 90,000 g/mol.

Abstract: A device for releasably sealing a cavity in a chamber of a container includes a seal having a body that is deformable, and a mechanism operable to deform the seal's body into a first shape and into a second shape. The seal's body has a region sized and configured such that when the region contacts a surface of a container, a fluid, such as air, is prevented from moving between the region of the seal's body and the surface that the region contacts. In the first shape, the region of the seal's body contacts the container's surface and prevents fluid from moving between the region of the seal's body and the container's surface. In the second shape, the region of the seal's body does not contact the container's surface and allows fluid to move between the region of the seal's body and the container's surface.

Abstract: A container closure and methods are disclosed for providing visible evidence of removal of the closure from a container after installation by a manufacturer. The closure includes tamper evidence bridges comprising small tabs of material that extend from a bottom-most edge of the closure to a tamper evidence ledge of the container. The bridges break when the closure is rotated relative to the tamper evidence ledge, thereby providing readily visible evidence that the closure has been removed after installation by the manufacturer. In some embodiments, a tamper evidence closure engages with threads of a finish of the container. Cam locks around the perimeter of the tamper evidence closure are permanently flared by cams on the finish during loosening of the closure. Outward flaring of the cam locks provides a visual indication that the tamper evidence closure has been loosened after installation by a manufacturer.

Abstract: Child resistant closures are typically two-piece assemblies or squeeze and turn closures with an inside wall and an outside wall. The current squeeze and turn child resistant closures are expensive and difficult for seniors to operate. The preferred design is a child-resistant single wall cap and container assembly that is preferably easy for seniors to open and difficult for children to open or is substantially child-resistant. In addition, due to the single wall of the cap and relatively low cap height, the preferred assembly is light, requires less material and relatively less expensive to manufacture than prior art container assemblies. Like many child resistant closure systems, the preferred container assembly design includes a container with specifically designed neck finish to lock the closure on the container. However, the preferred design includes two small lugs, which generally do not add significantly to the bottle complexity or bottle cost.
