Abstract: An alignment assembly for use with a well string having a downhole tool to be positioned within a cased wellbore. The alignment assembly may include an outer assembly, an inner assembly positioned at least partially within the outer assembly, a locator, and a compensator. The locator may releasably couple the outer assembly to the inner assembly and be shaped to engage with a shoulder of the casing to align the downhole tool with a location along the casing. The compensator may be coupled to the outer assembly, positioned about the inner assembly, and configured to limit relative axial movement between the outer assembly and the inner assembly.

Abstract: An artificial lift assembly includes an outer body, an inner body positioned at least partially within the outer body, and a first line in fluid communication with a first reservoir defined at least partially between the outer body and the inner body. The first line is configured to introduce a working fluid into the first reservoir to cause an upstroke of the inner body relative to the outer body, the inner body moves upward with respect to the outer body during the upstroke, which draws a wellbore fluid into a chamber defined at least partially between the outer body and the inner body, and the chamber is positioned below the first reservoir.

Abstract: A technique facilitates production of desired well fluids from a lateral wellbore or wellbores. Aspects of the technique comprise drilling and completing the main wellbore which may include a lower lateral wellbore portion. A production deflector may be run downhole into the main wellbore, and then a lateral wellbore section, e.g. an upper lateral wellbore section, may be drilled from the main wellbore. A liner may then be run downhole and out into the lateral wellbore section. The liner comprises a scab portion which ends up disposed across the main wellbore. Subsequently, the scab portion is removed, e.g. milled, to enable communication with both the lateral wellbore section and the main wellbore extending below the lateral wellbore section.

Abstract: Methods of capturing carbon dioxide in a wellbore can include installing a sealing element in the wellbore. The sealing element swells in the presence of carbon dioxide and can be used for capturing the carbon. The sealing element can include a carbon-swelling material, such as a carbon-swelling polymers, metal-based materials, or combinations of elastomeric polymers and metal-based materials. The sealing element can also include combinations of different carbon-swelling materials, fillers or other compounds, and materials that are not carbon swell able. The sealing element can create a seal, form an anchor, or create a seal and form an anchor in the wellbore after swelling.
