Abstract: Gain mismatch and related problems can be solved by a system and method that applies an automatic microphone signal gain equalization without any direct absolute reference or calibration phase. The system and method performs the steps of receiving, by a computing device, a speech signal from a speaking person via a plurality of microphones, determining a speech signal component in the time- frequency domain for each microphone of the plurality of microphones, calculating an instantaneous cross-talk coupling matrix based on the speech signal components across the microphones, estimating gain factors based on calculated cross-talk couplings and a given expected cross-talk attenuation, limiting the gain factors to appropriate maximum and minimum values, and applying the gain factors to the speech signal used in the control path to control further speech enhancement algorithms or used in the signal path for direct influence on the speech enhanced audio output signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may receive one or more transmissions from one or more UEs in a first slot, including a first transmission from a second UE. The first UE may receive the first transmission using a receiver configured with a first gain and may decode the first transmission. The UE may determine a correspondence (e.g., a temporal correlation) between the first slot and a second slot and may configure the receiver with a second gain at the beginning of the second slot based on the correspondence. The UE may determine that a total received signal power in the second slot is associated with the total received signal power in the first slot. The UE may decode one or more transmissions in the second slot based on the receiver having the second gain at the beginning of the slot.

Abstract: Examples of the disclosure describe systems and methods for presenting an audio signal to a user of a wearable head device. According to an example method, a first input audio signal is received. The first input audio signal is processed to generate a first output audio signal. The first output audio signal is presented via one or more speakers associated with the wearable head device. Processing the first input audio signal comprises applying a pre-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal; adjusting a gain of the first input audio signal; and applying a de- emphasis filter to the first audio signal Applying the pre-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal comprises attenuating a low frequency component of the first input audio signal. Applying the de-emphasis filter to the first input audio signal comprises attenuating a high frequency component of the first input audio signal.

Abstract: Systems are disclosed including a television (TV) set having included audio system. The TV set permits control over various functions, at least including audio volume, via a remote control. When the viewer activates the remote volume control, a graphic appears indicating the state of the volume control and, optionally the mute status. The graphic can be presented on the TV screen. In alternate embodiments, the graphic may be presented on a display of the remote, or even some other location, e.g., a different remote control. If a mute button is provided on the remote control, when the viewer activates the mute button, a graphic appears indicating the state of muting and, optionally, the volume control status. The TV set also offers control over various aspects of the audio system, including settings which go beyond volume up/down, generally through some sort of menu system.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING AND REMEDIATING SOUND MASKING

Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention are directed to enabling a user to easily identify the frequency range(s) at which sound masking occurs, and addressing the masking, if desired. In this respect, the extent to which a first stem is masked by one or more second stems in a frequency range may depend not only on the absolute value of the energy of the second stem(s) in the frequency range, but also on the relative energy of the first stem with respect to the second stem(s) in the frequency range. Accordingly, some embodiments are directed to modeling sound masking as a function of the energy of the stem being masked and of the relative energy of the masked stem with respect to the masking stem(s) in the frequency range, such as by modeling sound masking as loudness loss, a value indicative of the reduction in loudness of a stem of interest caused by the presence of one or more other stems in a frequency range.

Abstract: A predictive brownout prevention system may be configured to prevent brownout of an audio output signal. Particularly, the brownout prevention system may be configured to receive information indicative of an amplitude of the audio input signal, receive information indicative of a condition of the power supply, receive information indicative of one or more of the following: 1) adaptive estimates of power supply conditions; 2) anticipated effects of power supply capacitance; and 3) condition of a load impedance, determine from the received information whether a brownout condition exists, and responsive to determining the brownout condition exists, generate the selectable attenuation signal to reduce an amplitude of the audio output signal such that the signal path attenuates the audio input signal or a derivative thereof in order to prevent brownout prior to propagation to the audio output of a portion of the audio input signal having the brownout condition.
