    Abstract: The subject technology receives, at a local device, a requested camera format based on specifications of a display associated with a remote device. The remote device and the local device are devices participating in a video conference. The requested camera format includes a first resolution. Camera formats supported by a camera associated with the local device are determined. If a second resolution of a first camera format matches among the supported camera formats matches with the first resolution, the first camera format is selected for capturing the video stream by the camera. Otherwise, a second camera format among the supported camera formats is determined for capturing the video stream so as to maximize a field of view of the video stream relative to other camera formats supported by the camera.

    Abstract: A method of videoconferencing between a first user and a second user comprises receiving at least one first image data of the first user from a first camera mounted behind a first display. The first display is configured to be optically transmissive with respect to the first camera. The method also comprises receiving at least one second image data from a second camera of the first user.     Abstract: In one embodiment, a multi -microphone system for an endpoint device receives input signals for a remote conference between the endpoint device and at least one other endpoint device. The multi -microphone system may include at least a top microphone unit and a bottom microphone unit. A signal degradation event that causes degradation of signals received by the top microphone unit or the bottom microphone unit is detected. Then, based on information regarding the signal degradation event, it is determined whether the signal degradation event affects one or both of the top microphone unit and the bottom microphone unit. In response, an output signal is generated for transmission to the at least one other endpoint device, and the output signal uses a portion of the input signals that excludes signals received by the top microphone unit and/or the bottom microphone unit determined to be affected by the signal degradation event.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for calibrating an eye tracking device (16) for capturing the gaze (g) of a specific video conferee (P) on the screen (13) of a computing device, by means of a video conference system having a user interface (11) to display at least one other video conferee (P1, P2, P3) on the screen. Calibration of the eye tracking device comprises the steps of: i) retrieving the position (s1, s2, s3) of the other video conferee or each other video conferee (P1, P2, P3) as displayed in said user interface, in relation to said screen (13); ii) retrieving the activity state (a1, a2, a3) corresponding to the other video conferee or to each other video conferee (P1, P2, P3); iii) generating an attention model as a function of said position (s1, s2, s3) and said corresponding activity state (a1, a2, a3) per other video conferee (P1, P2, P3) which indicates the areas which are most likely to be looked at by an arbitrary video conferee, and iv) computing the calibration parameters for the eye tracking device (16) to output gaze (g) which best overlap with said areas according to said attention model. Capturing the gaze (g) of the specific video conferee (P) on the screen of the computing device (13) comprises: a) configuring said eye tracking device (16) with said computed calibration parameters, and b) retrieving in real-time said gaze (g) of said specific video conferee (P).

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method of operating a video conference endpoint. The video conference endpoint includes a video camera which captures images showing a field of view. The method comprises: receiving data defining of a spatial boundary within the field of view, the spatial boundary being at least in part defined by a distance from the video camera; capturing an image of the field of view; identifying one or more persons within the field of view of the video camera; estimating a position of the or each person within the field of view of the video camera; and generating one or more video signals, which include one or more cropped regions corresponding to one or more persons determined to be within the spatial boundary, for transmission to a receiver.
