Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein to address issues at the MAC layer resulting from potential Listen-Before-Talk (LBT) failures and delayed transmission. For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may monitor a plurality of TX resource pools within a sidelink bandwidth part (BWP) for LBT events. The WTRU may cause, based on determining that an LBT failure has occurred, a corrective action associated with a sidelink MAC procedure. The WTRU may determine, based on the LBT failure, that a total number or consecutive number of detected LBT failures for one of the monitored TX resource pools exceeds a threshold, indicating a consistent LBT failure. The WTRU may, based on the consistent LBT failure, send an indication of the consistent LBT failure for the TX resource pool to peer WTRUs, and an indication of the consistent LBT failure for the TX resource pool to a serving cell.

Abstract: A wireless communication network (100, 400) serves User Equipment (UE) (101, 401) based on co-location and Received Signal Strength (RSS). A serving wireless access node (111, 411) selects itself for an uplink and downlink when no candidate wireless access nodes (114-116, 414-416) are co-located with the serving node (111, 411). The serving node (111, 411) selects a candidate node (112-113, 412-413) for the uplink and downlink when the candidate node (112-113, 412-413) is co-located with the serving node (111, 411) and has an RSS level that exceeds a first threshold. The serving node (111, 411) selects itself for the uplink and selects a candidate node (112-113, 412-413) for the downlink when the candidate node is co-located with the serving node (111, 411) and has an RSS between the first threshold and a second threshold. The UE (101, 401) may trigger access node selection by entering idle mode. The serving node (111, 411) may condition the selection of a candidate node (112-116, 412-416) on whether the candidate node (112-116, 412-416) supports a wireless network slice for the UE (101, 401).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for data routing between satellites and ground based servers are described. A terminal of a satellite may receive a data packet associated with a latency metric from a payload of the satellite. The terminal may determine whether the latency metric is less than a threshold based on a first duration associated with the first satellite being in range of a ground station of a plurality of ground stations. If the terminal determines that the latency metric is less than the threshold, the terminal may queue the data packet for transmission via a first data path which includes an indirect link via a second satellite to a ground-based server. Alternatively, if the terminal determines that the latency metric is greater than the threshold, the terminal may queue the data packet for transmission via a second data path which includes a direct link to the ground-based server.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards systems and methods for selecting, in a Fifth Generation (5G) cellular telecommunication network, a User Plane Function (UPF) of a plurality of UPFs on which to anchor a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session of a new user equipment (UE) newly appearing on the cellular telecommunication network. The selection is based on: a location of the new UE; a plurality of current loads for each UPF of the plurality of UPFs; a predicted UE load of the new UE based on network data analytics; and predicted UPF loads of the plurality of UPFs as a function of time considering the predicted UE load based on network data analytics from the Network Data Analytics Function. In the UPF selection, the Session Management Function (SMF) gives higher priority to shorter term predicted loads than longer term predicted loads. Also, in the UPF selection, the PDU session of the UE is preferred to attach on the UPF in the current serving area in which the UE is located.

Further, the method includes receiving (204), from the network entity, a request accept message including an indication of an implementation of a paging restriction between the network entity and the UE based on the paging restriction information included in the registration request message. Thereafter, the method includes transmitting, to the network entity, a release request message including information related to a release of the paging restriction for the UE when the UE intend to receive paging messages from the network entity. Moreover, in response to a reception of the release request message, the network entity releases the paging restriction for the UE.
