A surgical instrument for delivering energy to lung tissue, for example to cause lung volume reduction. In one embodiment, an elongated catheter has a handle portion that includes an interior chamber that is supplied with a biocompatible liquid media under pressure. An energy source delivers energy to the media to cause a liquid-to-vapor phase change within the interior chamber and ejects a flow of vapor media from the working end of the catheter. The delivery of energy and the flow of vapor are controlled by a computer controller to cause a selected pressure and selected volume of vapor to propagate to the extremities of the airways. Contemporaneously, the vapor undergoes a vapor-to-liquid phase transition which delivers a large amount of energy to airway tissue. The thermal energy delivered is equivalent to the heat of vaporization of the fluid media, which shrinks and collapses the treated airways. The treated tissue is the maintained in a collapsed state by means of aspiration for a short interval to enhance tissue remodeling. Thereafter, the patient's wound healing response causes fibrosis and further remodeling to cause permanent lung volume reduction.

Apparatus and methods for setting one or more packers in a well bore. A check valve is provided that controls flow of fluids into and out of an inflow control device on a base pipe in a production string. With the check valve in the closed position, a setting ball is passed through the inside of the base pipe and sealing seats in a seat sub, thereby preventing fluid from flowing out of the end of the base pipe. Increasing the pressure inside the base pipe causes the packers to set. Decreasing the pressure inside the base pipe creates a differential between the pressure inside the base pipe and the pressure of the surrounding reservoir that is sufficient to overcome the bias on the check valve and move the check valve into the open position, thereby allowing reservoir fluid to flow into the base pipe for production.

After an originator generates a distribution list and prior to submission of the message to entries on the generated list, the method of the present invention examines the entries in the created distribution list. From this list, the invention identifies features of the entries. From these features, the method generates criteria that can be used to generate additional entries that may be included in the list. In one approach, the generated criteria are presented to the user for review and approval. If the originator approves the criteria, the generated list is modified to add additional entries to the distribution based on the generated criteria. If the originator rejects the criteria, the initially generated list is submitted and the message is sent to the entries on the initial list.

The present invention discloses a solution for providing conditional reminders for electronic messages. The solution can identify an electronic message conveyed from a sender to a recipient, wherein the electronic message is an email message or text exchange message. A software program can determine a response time and a response condition for the electronic message. When the response time expires and when the response condition is unsatisfied, a software program can present a reminder to the sender and/or the recipient, where the reminder indicates that a response is due. When a software program detects a recipient action that satisfies the response condition before the response time expires, no reminder will be presented to either the sender or the recipient.

A display displays a capture mode displaying source image data and a send mode displaying processed image data, which is to be sent. The display simultaneously displays, upon a switch from the capture mode to the send mode, the processed image data and a manipulation. The manipulation includes pixel values of the source image data and dummy values. An input inputs an address of a terminal to which the processed image data is to be transmitted. A transmitter transmits an address of a terminal together with the processed image data over a network to a server such that the server executes a processing for providing the processed image data to the terminal. An image data processor determines an image processing capacity of the terminal and converts an image size of the source image data such that the processed image data is commensurate with the image processing capacity of the terminal.

Systems and methods for providing electronic notifications are described. A notification broadcast initiation is received over a network from a first user. The notification initiation is for a first notification intended for recipients in a first area selected via a GIS system. A determination is made as to which of the recipients in the first area are members of a notification system and have submitted contact paths to the notification system. For those recipients that are members of the notification system, the notification is provided using the submitted contact paths accessed from a system database. For those recipients that are not members of the notification system, the notification is provided using contact information from a reverse 911 database.

A system and method for performing convolution in a single channel of a vector processing computer system takes advantage of the parallel computing capability of the vector processing system and the distributed properties of the discrete-time convolution sum by performing convolution on portions of an overall data stream, or data chunks, simultaneously. Partial solution are thereby obtained and superimposed to achieve an overall solution data stream. To simplify the convolution sum and eliminate the need for calculating products, a specialized data signal or vector containing a series of ones may be used in the convolution operation.

An electronic collection bin is provided for assisting users in managing their personal information. The electronic collection bin provides a common location for collecting and organizing a user's information. The electronic collection bin may receive information items of varying data types and from disparate sources. After receiving an information item, the electronic collection bin analyzes the item to determine a suggested treatment, which may include conversion of the item to a new data type located at another location. A user may access the electronic collection bin, sort through the information items, and select placement of the information items. The user may view the suggested treatments of information items in the electronic collection bin and choose whether to accept the suggested treatments.

A web-based system, method and program product are provided for adding content to a content object stored (e.g., a custom compilation or prepublished work) in a data repository as a group of hierarchically related content entities. Each noncontainer content object is preferably stored as a separate entity in the data repository. Each content entity is also stored as a row in a digital library index class as a collection of attributes and references to related content entities and containers. As the user selects desired objects for inclusion in a content object, the system arranges the objects hierarchically, e.g., into volumes, chapters and sections according to the order specified by the user. The system then creates a file object (e.g., a CBO) defining the content object that contains a list or outline of the container and noncontainer entities selected, their identifiers, order and structure. This file object is stored separately in the data repository. Content is moved in the content object by moving desired ones of the container and noncontainer content entity identifiers to new locations in the list or outline. This is achieved through a user interface by providing a mechanism for enabling a user to select a container or noncontainer (e.g., by title) to be moved and specify a target location for the content entity (e.g., by inserting the container or noncontainer title between other titles in the outline.)

A first subset of attributes of documents responsive to at least one restriction may be displayed. Thereafter, a selection of a graphical user interface element associated with one of the attribute in the first subset may be received resulting in a display of a window comprising an alphanumeric input element. A key word search query may be received in the input element so that a second subset of attributes of documents responsive to the at least one restriction, the attribute associated with the selected graphical user interface element, and the key word search query may be displayed. Related methods, apparatuses, computer program products, and computer systems are also described.
