Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to methods for sealing a processing chamber with a slit valve door. The door initially raises from a position below the opening for the processing chamber to a raised position. The door then expands until an O-ring that is on the door just touches the sealing surface. Then, the door expands again to compress the O-ring against the sealing surface. The door expands by flowing a gas into the interior volume of the door. By controlling the pressure buildup within the door, the speed with which the door expands is controlled to ensure that the door gently contacts the sealing surface and then compresses against the sealing surface. Thus, the door may be prevented from contacting the sealing surface with too great a force that may jolt or shake the processing chamber and produce undesired particles that may contaminate the process.

An offline trust system establishes a trust relationship between a trust authority computer system and a target computer system without relying on an active network connection between the computer systems. The offline trust system separates the trust establishment operation into a provisioning phase and a configuration phase. The provisioning phase can be performed entirely on the trust authority, while the configuration phase can be performed entirely on the target computer system requesting trust. The two phases can be performed at different times and do not assume any connection between the two computer systems. An administrator may perform the provisioning phase for many target computer systems at the same time. Thus, the offline trust system provides a way to establish trust between computer systems that is more reliable and less prone to failure.

Device features, such as gate lengths and channel widths, are selectively altered by first identifying those devices within a semiconductor die that exhibit physical attributes, e.g., leakage current and threshold voltage magnitude, that are different than previously verified by a design/simulation tool used to design the devices. The identified, non-conforming devices are then further identified by the amount of deviation from the original design goal that is exhibited by each non-conforming device. The non-conforming devices are then mathematically categorized into bins, where each bin is tagged with a magnitude of deviation from a design goal. The mask layers defining the features of the non-conforming devices are then selectively modified by an amount that is commensurate with the tagged deviation. The selectively modified mask layers are then used to generate a new semiconductor die that exhibits improved performance.

A decoder is disclosed that can reduce power consumption at different stages of a decoding process. At a first stage where the decoder calculates residual values, the decoder can reduce power consumption by calculating residual values using less than a full set of division circuits. A reduced number of division circuits may be sufficient to successfully calculate residuals associated with the codeword to complete the decoding process. Division circuits that are not used may be disabled to reduce power consumption. At another stage of the decoding process where the decoder generates coefficients that are used to identify locations of errors in the codeword, the decoding process can limit power consumption by reducing the number of iterations of a polynomial generator by incorporating termination decision circuitry.

One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for protecting data with an error correction code (ECC). The data is accessed by a processing unit and stored in an external memory, such as dynamic random access memory (DRAM). Application data and related ECC data are advantageously stored in a common page within a common DRAM device. Application data and ECC data are transmitted between the processor and the external common DRAM device over a common set of input/output (I/O) pins. Eliminating I/O pins and DRAM devices conventionally associated with transmitting and storing ECC data advantageously reduces system complexity and cost.

Data stored in memory is decoded using iterative probabilistic decoding and multiple decoders. A first decoder attempts to decode a representation of a codeword. If the attempt is unsuccessful, a second decoder attempts to decode the representation of a codeword. The second decoder may have a lower resolution than the first decoder. Probability values such as logarithmic likelihood ratio (LLR) values may be clipped in the second decoder. This approach can overcome trapping sets while exhibiting low complexity and high performance. Further, it can be implemented on existing decoders such as those used in current memory devices.

Embodiments of the invention allow structured data to be transferred between a source application and target applications that process structured data in different formats. For example, structured data may have associated rules which transform the structured data based on some variables. The source application may register variable definitions for each variable in a registry. Each target application may read the registry and register values for the variables. Once values are registered, the source application transfers the structured data to a transformation engine that applies the rules, using the registered values for the variables, to transform the structured data into a format compatible with the target applications. The transformation engine may also determine distinct sets of variable values and transform structured data based on each distinct set. In doing so, the number of transformed data generated is limited to the number of distinct sets, thereby avoiding generating duplicate transformed data.

Opportunistically locked files are accessed in real-time from a kernel mode file system filter driver without breaking opportunistic locks. A file system is monitored, and the granting of an opportunistic lock to a specific file object referring to a specific underlying file is detected. The granting of the detected opportunistic lock results in both the file object and the underlying file being opportunistically locked. A reference to the opportunistically locked file object is cached. The file system filter driver filters a request to access the opportunistically locked file via a second file object which is not opportunistically locked. The kernel mode file system filter driver uses the cached reference to access the opportunistically locked underlying file. This enables access of the opportunistically locked file from the kernel mode file system filter driver without breaking the opportunistic lock.

Hidden Markov Model (HMM) parameters are updated using update equations based on growth transformation optimization of a minimum classification error objective function. Using the list of N-best competitor word sequences obtained by decoding the training data with the current-iteration HMM parameters, the current HMM parameters are updated iteratively. The updating procedure involves using weights for each competitor word sequence that can take any positive real value. The updating procedure is further extended to the case where a decoded lattice of competitors is used. In this case, updating the model parameters relies on determining the probability for a state at a time point based on the word that spans the time point instead of the entire word sequence. This word-bound span of time is shorter than the duration of the entire word sequence and thus reduces the computing time.

In a method for predicting the lifetime of a photo-semiconductor device that has a maximum light output value restricted by thermal saturation, the maximum light output value is extracted by measuring the characteristic of light output from the photo-semiconductor device with respect to drive current. The decrease tendency of the maximum output values with respect to drive time is predicted to predict the lifetime of the photo-semiconductor. Further, the predicted lifetime is updated as time passes. Therefore, in this method, even if drive condition changes, or an individual difference of the photo-semiconductor per se is present, it is possible to substantially accurately predict the lifetime of the photo-semiconductor.

Theory and design of a new electrical-mobility based instrument for measurement of aerosol particle size distributions in real time is presented. Miniature Electrical Aerosol Spectrometer has a rectangular cross-section with two main regions: the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) and Classifier sections. The ESP section enables charged particle injection into the classifier section in a narrow range of streamlines at the desired location. The injected charged particles are then segregated based on their electrical mobility in the classifier section and collected on a series of plates that are connected to electrometers. Real-time particle size distribution measurements can be inferred from the electrometer signal strengths with the knowledge of the instrument transfer function. A theoretical approach is developed to calculate Miniature Electrical Aerosol Spectrometer transfer function considering the non-uniformity in the electric and flow fields inside the instrument, and accounting for the instrument dimensions and its operating conditions. The theoretical predictions of size classification characteristics are seen to compare well with numerical results. The modeling results suggest that an optimal operational domain exists for Miniature Electrical Aerosol Spectrometer.

Technologies are described herein for improving call quality and coverage of cells within a mobile wireless communication network. Such improvements can be accomplished by adjusting various radio access network parameters. The adjustments may be made at the cell level or at the neighbor level. An iterative process can periodically collect key performance indicator (KPI) statistics from the mobile wireless network. System improvements may derive from one or more rules applied in parallel. Each rule can have a unique combination of minimum or maximum KPI thresholds. System issues may be identified when a cell correlates with one or more of the rules which may then suggest one or more parameter changes to reduce the identified system issue. System capacity policies may be provided as limits to the coverage and call quality triggers.
