Disclosed are a resistive random-access memory (ReRAM) based on resistive switching using a resistance-switchable conductive filler and a method for preparing the same. When a resistance-switchable conductive filler prepared by coating a conductive filler with a material whose resistance is changeable is mixed with a dielectric material, the dielectric material is given the resistive switching characteristics without losing its inherent properties. Therefore, various resistance-switchable materials having various properties can be prepared by mixing the resistance-switchable conductive filler with different dielectric materials. The resulting resistance-switchable material shows resistive switching characteristics comparable to those of the existing metal oxide film-based resistance-switchable materials. Accordingly, a ReRAM device having the inherent properties of a dielectric material can be prepared using the resistance-switchable conductive filler.

An apparatus and method to increase the sensitivity at the edge of radiation detector blocks is disclosed herein. Reduced sensitivity can result from photons entering a first detector block, escaping, and scattering into an adjacent detector, thereby depositing energy into two detectors blocks. Energy lost into adjacent detector blocks can be compensated with energy detected in the adjacent detector block. This can be done, for example, by processing channels from multiple detector blocks with one Field Programmable Gated Array (FPGA) on one Event Process Module (EPM) board. This can enable summing energy of one detector block with energy from an adjacent detector block when the initial interaction occurs at the edge of the first detector block. This can result in a better estimate of the amount of energy associated with the initial photon being detected.

In an electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA) and a method of use thereof, even if plural sets of X-ray image data are obtained at different timings from regions between which a positional deviation occurs, processing for obtaining the correlation is performed precisely. The sets of X-ray image data are obtained from the same region of a sample using the EPMA at different timings and stored in memory along with sets of electron image data based on detection of secondary or backscattered electrons arising from the region. The sets of electron image data obtained at the different timings are compared, and the amount of positional deviation is calculated. An operation for extracting a region common to the regions respectively producing the sets of X-ray image data obtained at the different timings is performed on these sets of X-ray image data based on the calculated amount of positional deviation.

The tip of an electrically conductive probe 11 is brought into contact with a sample and captures the sample S under atmospheric pressure, a high voltage for electrospray is applied to the probe 11 while a solvent is supplied to the tip of the probe 11 that has captured the sample, and molecules of the sample S at the probe tip are ionized. A miniscule amount of a fine solvent droplet is supplied to the probe tip and slow electrospray is implemented. As a result, the size of the electrically charged droplet can be made extremely small and components within the sample can be analyzed extensively without selectivity. Further, in imaging over an extended period of time, electrospray is possible even in the event that the sample dries.

While an adhesive layer is provided over the rear surface of a semiconductor chip in die bonding, a lamination processing (main pressure bonding) is necessary for securing the adhesive state of the adhesive layer after the die bonding process (temporary pressure bonding). In this case, typically the hardening of the adhesive is developed by applying heat while pressing down the rear surface of the chip from above with a pressurization member. It has become clear that various problems exist in the lamination processing of the laminate chips by such a mechanical pressurization method as the chip becomes thinner. That is, the problems include chip damage at a part in an overhang state, a chip position shift caused by bending and non-uniform pressurization, and the like. One invention of the present application is to perform the lamination processing by static gas pressure after laminating and temporarily pressure-bonding the plurality of semiconductor chips over a circuit substrate in the die bonding process of a substrate product.

A centrifuge for separating blood having a camera observing fluid flow, and a controller controlling the flow. The location of an interface is detected by image processing steps, which may comprise the steps of “spoiling” the image, “diffusing” the image, “edge detection”, “edge linking”, “region-based confirmation”, and “interface calculation”. “Spoiling” reduces the number of pixels to be examined preferentially on orthogonal axis oriented with respect to the expected location of the interface or phase boundary. “Diffusing” smoothes out small oscillations in the interface boundary, making to the location of the interface more distinct. “Edge detection” computes the rate of change in pixel intensity. “Edge linking” connects adjacent maxima. “Region-based confirmation” creates a pseudo image of the regions that qualify as distinct. “Final edge calculation” uses the points where the shade changes in the pseudo image, averages the radial displacement of these points for the interface position.

The present invention is a hermetic seal leak detection apparatus, which can be used to test for hermetic seal leaks in instruments and containers. A vacuum tight chamber is created around the unit being tested to minimize gas space outside of the hermetic seal. A vacuum inducing device is then used to increase the gas chamber volume inside the device, so that a slight vacuum is pulled on the unit being tested. The pressure in the unit being tested will stabilize. If the stabilized pressure reads close to a known good seal calibration, there is not a leak in the seal. If the stabilized pressure reads closer to a known bad seal calibration value, there is a leak in the seal. The speed of the plunger can be varied and by evaluating the resulting pressure change rates and final values, the leak rate/size can be accurately calculated.
