A two-in-one copper chloride/copper bromide disinfector and a method of controlling the same. In operation, when copper is released, the positive and negative electrodes of a copper billet are periodically reversed, while the positive and negative electrodes of a titanium plate/graphite polar plate are in an uncharged state. When chlorine/bromine is released, the positive and negative electrodes of a titanium plate/graphite polar plate are periodically reversed, while the positive and negative electrodes of the copper billet are short-connected, then connected to the negative electrode of the titanium plate/graphite polar plate, or applied thereon with an electric voltage that is lower than the electric voltage of the negative electrode of the titanium plate/graphite polar plate. With this method, the copper billet out of operation is shorted-connected to the negative electrode of the titanium plate/graphite polar plate or connected to an electric voltage that is lower than that of the negative electrode. Thus the release amount of copper ions is controllable, the volume of the disinfector is reduced, and the corrosion between the positive and negative electrodes of the copper billet is uniform.

Fuel reforming catalysts 28 generate a hydrogen-containing reformed gas when they come into contact with exhaust gas that contains a reforming fuel. Upstream and downstream air-fuel ratio sensors 58, 60 are respectively installed upstream and downstream of the fuel reforming catalysts 28. The upstream air-fuel ratio sensor 58 outputs a upstream sensor signal in accordance with oxygen concentration. The downstream air-fuel ratio sensor 60 outputs a downstream sensor signal in accordance with oxygen concentration and hydrogen concentration by using zirconia's oxygen detection capability and a change of a diffusion layer's hydrogen-concentration-dependent oxygen detection capability. An ECU 50 detects the hydrogen concentration without being affected by the oxygen concentration through the use of the upstream sensor signal in which only the oxygen concentration is reflected and the downstream sensor signal in which the oxygen concentration and hydrogen concentration are reflected. This makes it possible to establish a hydrogen concentration detection system with the common air-fuel ratio sensors 58, 60.

A plunger lift system has a plunger with main and ancillary sleeves that dispose in tubing. The sleeves can move in the tubing between a bumper and a lubricator. Both sleeves have a passage for fluid to pass therethrough, and the sleeves can fall independently of one another from the surface to the bumper. When disposed on the bumper, the sleeves mate together. Building gas pressure downhole can then lift the mated sleeves, which push a column of liquid along with them to the surface. The main sleeve has a narrow stem on its distal end with openings that communicate with the sleeve's passage. A nodule also extends from the distal end. The ancillary sleeve fits at least partially on the narrow stem, and an orifice in the sleeve's opening engages on the nodule. Thus, the mated sleeves close off fluid communication through the main sleeve's passage.

The present technology concerns cell phones and other portable devices, and more particularly concerns use of such devices in connection with media content (electronic and physical) and with other systems (e.g., televisions, digital video recorders, and electronic program directories). Some aspects of the technology allow users to easily transfer displayed content from cell phone screens onto a television screens for easier viewing, or vice versa for content portability. Others enable users to participate interactively in entertainment content, such as by submitting plot directions, audio input, character names, etc., yielding more engaging, immersive, user experiences. Still other aspects of the technology involve a program directory database, compiled automatically from information reported by network nodes that watch and identify content traffic passing into (and/or out of) networked computers. By identifying content resident at a number of different repositories (e.g., web sites, TV networks, P2P systems, etc.), such a directory allows cell phone users to identify the diversity of sources from which desired content can be obtained—some available on a scheduled basis, others available on demand. Depending on the application, the directory information may be transparent to the user—serving to identify sources for desired content, from which application software can pick for content downloading, based, e.g., on context and stored profile data. A great number of other features and arrangements are also detailed.

An information processing apparatus comprises a plurality of control units, a shared memory, a processing number table and a start-up time table. When a transaction is received, each of the control units determines whether the current time in the shared memory coincides with the most recent start-up time in the processing number. If the current time does not coincide with the most recent start-up time, each of the control units updates the most recent start-up time with current time and if or not, adds 1 to the number of transactions being processed in the processing number table so as to update the number of transactions being processed. After the number of transactions is updated, each of the control units sums up the number of transactions being processed in the processing number table. Each of the control units determines whether the number of transactions is not more than the threshold value in the shared memory. If the number of transactions is not more than the threshold value, each of the control units starts the distributed transaction to be processed.

The invention relates to a method for receiving data units when using one HARQ process of an HARQ protocol. The memory associated to the HARQ process is divided into several sub-areas, which are addressable by an identifier. Then, when data is received, same is stored in one of the sub-areas. By providing more than one sub-area for one HARQ process, it is possible to actually use one HARQ process for two (or more) different received data units, being from the same data flow or from a different data flow. The actual sub-area of the HARQ process for storing data units can be either freely selected at the receiving end or is indicated by an identifier associated with the data. Furthermore, persistent scheduled data is transmitted in units, scheduled at fixed time intervals. Thus, a control signaling field, usually used for indicating new units, can be used to store the identifier.

Various embodiments of a computer system and methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, a computer system includes hosts coupled to a backup medium. The backup medium stores data segments and objects, each object referencing one or more segments. A second host conveys a write request to a first host identifying a data entity comprising segments referenced by a first object. The first host restores a copy of the data entity and creates a second object referencing the segments that were referenced by the first object in response to receiving the write request. The first host adds segment references to the second object in response to receiving a change that adds data to the copy or deletes a portion of a segment from the copy. The first host removes a segment reference from the second object if a change deletes all of a segment from the copy.

Described embodiments provide a system having a bridge for connecting two different processor buses. A process monitor within the bridge allows for measuring latency of commands issued on a first bus, passing through the bridge, and executed by clients coupled to the second bus. By using identification fields associated with the command, measuring the latency of each command begins with matching the identification field of the command to an integer. As the bridge passes acknowledgements back to the first bus, the monitoring of the command is stopped when an identification field associated with an acknowledgement matches the identification field of the command being monitored. Data collected include the minimum, maximum, total latency, and the number of commands monitored. From this data, the average latency can be easily calculated.

Systems and methods according to aspects of the invention verify requests for information over a network. Computing devices communicating over a network transmit numerous signals with various types of information including spatial information, temporal information, device-specific information, and transmission specific information. This information may be used to generate statistical records of valid request for information. Various combinations of these signals may be used to determine whether a request for information is a valid request based on the statistical records associated with the signals. Where a request for information has been verified, the system and method may provide the information. Where the request for information has not been verified, the system and method may deny the request for information. Thus the system and method may be used to prevent and block scraping and spamming attacks.
