Data is collected during the operation of a vehicle and used to produce a ranking of a driver's performance, and that ranking is shared on a hosted website, such that the drivers can compare their performance metrics to their peers. Fleet operators can use these performance metrics as incentives, by linking driver pay with performance. Individual fleet operators can host their own website, where driver rankings in that fleet can be compared, or the website can be hosted by a third party, and multiple fleet operators participate. The third party can offset their costs for operating the website by charging participating fleet operators a fee, and/or by advertising revenue. In some embodiments, all driver performance data is displayed in an anonymous format, so that individual drivers cannot be identified unless the driver shares their user ID.

A method and apparatus for operating a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle are provided. The includes setting an initial distance until charge (DUC) and calculating a current DUC by subtracting a travel distance of the vehicle from the initial DUC after the initial DUC is set. A current distance to empty (DTE) is calculated based on a current state of charge (SOC) of a battery and the current SOC of the battery is compared with a reference SOC. The current DUC is compared with the current DTE when the current SOC is greater than the reference SOC. Thus, whether a high speed condition or a high load condition is satisfied is determined when the current DUC is greater than the current DTE. A driving mode of the vehicle is then set to be a charge sustaining (CS) mode when the high speed condition or the high load condition is satisfied.

In a bar puller, pins mount serrated rollers to pivoting arms, which are mounted by additional pins to a bar puller body. The body houses movable cups positioned to compress springs in response to pivoting motion of the pivoting arms. A cover retains the springs and cups in the body. In a manufacturing process where elongated stock material needs to be positioned automatically, such as in a CNC turning center, the bar puller manipulates the elongated material in the machine by holding it rigidly so that the bar puller can move the elongated material on the axis of elongation. This is accomplished by forcing the end effectors over the material, which separates the end effectors by pivoting the arms. The geometry of the pivoting arms causes interaction with the cups and springs to generate an opposing spring force to separate the end effectors.

A routing method operative in a content delivery network (CDN) where the CDN includes a request routing mechanism for routing clients to subsets of edge servers within the CDN. According to the routing method, TCP connection data statistics are collected are edge servers located within a CDN region. The TCP connection data statistics are collected as connections are established between requesting clients and the CDN region and requests are serviced by those edge servers. Periodically, e.g., daily, the connection data statistics are provided from the edge servers in a region back to the request routing mechanism. The TCP connection data statistics are then used by the request routing mechanism in subsequent routing decisions and, in particular, in the map generation processes. Thus, for example, the TCP connection data may be used to determine whether a given quality of service is being obtained by routing requesting clients to the CDN region. If not, the request routing mechanism generates a map that directs requesting clients away from the CDN region for a given time period or until the quality of service improves.

When the protect path is the active path and goes down, the primary card generates a simulated error condition on the inter-card path, causing the secondary card to make the working path the active path. Switching of packets to the active and protect paths on the primary and secondary cards and is performed by an FPGA that maintains its own state machine subject to instructions from software executed by the cards.

A path selection policy can be used to determine whether or not one or more bits in the header of the packet are to be modified.
