An internal combustion engine (1) is provided with a supercharger (12) and a cylinder direct injection fuel injector (10). When the engine shifts in a low-speed supercharging region at a state where the wall temperature of a cylinder bore (3) is low, liquid fuel adheres to a wall surface of the cylinder bore (3) so that lubricating oil is diluted with the liquid fuel and released into a combustion chamber (4). As a result, there occurs abnormal combustion. In the present invention, the fuel injection amount is increased at the time when the engine shifts in a predetermined low-speed supercharging region. The lower the wall temperature of the cylinder bore, the larger the rate of increase of the fuel injection amount. This makes it possible to suppress the temperature of air-fuel mixture in the vicinity of compression top dead center and prevent the occurrence of abnormal combustion.

A target air amount for achieving a requested torque is back-calculated from the requested torque using a virtual air-fuel ratio. The virtual air-fuel ratio is changed from a first air-fuel ratio to a second air-fuel ratio in response to a condition for switching an operation mode being satisfied. After the virtual air-fuel ratio is changed, the target air-fuel ratio is maintained at the first air-fuel ratio until the ignition timing reaches a retardation limit. Subsequently, in response to the ignition timing reaching the retardation limit, the target air-fuel ratio is switched from the first air-fuel ratio to a third air-fuel ratio. After switching of the target air-fuel ratio, in response to a difference between the target air amount and an estimated air amount becoming equal to or less than a threshold value, the target air-fuel ratio is switched from the third air-fuel ratio to the second air-fuel ratio.

In this study, commercially available softwood lignin was esterified with tall oil fatty acid (TOFA) and tested as barrier material in fiber-based packaging material. The modified lignin samples were applied with a bar coater forming an even coating on the paperboard substrate. A significant decrease in WVTR and OTR value was observed for paperboard coated with the modified lignin as well as pure TOFA used as a reference. In contrast to the TOFA coating, the modified lignin coatings exhibited a high and stable contact angle. The coating material did not affect the tensile strength of the paperboard. According to the results, the demonstration of the conversion of lignin into a value added product has been shown. Furthermore, the novel coating material shows promising properties for the development as sustainable barrier material in fiber-based packaging material to replace oil-placed barriers.
