Processing of actions within a shared augmented reality experience is split between an edge node of a communications network (e.g., a cell tower) and a server. As a result, computation of the current state may be sharded naturally based on real-world location, with state updates generally provided by the edge node and the server providing conflict resolution based on a master state (e.g., where actions connected to different edge nodes potentially interfere with each other). In this way, latency may be reduced as game actions are communicated between clients connected to the same edge node using a peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol without routing the actions via the game server.

A method of forming and maintaining GPS tracked and mapped environmentally-clean chemical-based firebreaks and fire protection zones on, over and/or about property surfaces that proactively inhibit fire ignition and flame spread when exposed to wild fire. The method involves wirelessly connecting a GPS-tracking anti-fire (AF) liquid spraying system to a wireless communication network supporting a network database. The GPS-tracking anti-fire liquid spraying system is used to spray particular GPS-specified ground surfaces with an environmentally-clean anti-fire chemical liquid so to form an environmentally-clean chemical firebreak over the GPS-specified property surfaces, while generating GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records pertaining to the application of the environmentally-clean anti-fire chemical liquid spray during the formation of the environmentally-clean chemical firebreak or fire protection zone. The GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records are transmitted over the wireless communication network for storage in the network database. A mobile computing system is used to access the GPS-coordinate and time/date stamped data records from the network database, relating to the formation of the GPS-specified environmentally-clean chemical firebreak or fire protection zone, so as to verify that the GPS-specified environmentally-clean chemical firebreak was formed at the GPS-specified property surfaces on the particular date, to proactively inhibit fire ignition and flame spread when exposed to wild fire.

A process for treating highly localized carcinoma cells that provides precise positioning of a therapeutic source of highly ionizing but weakly penetrating radiation, which can be shaped so that it irradiates essentially only the volume of the tumor. The intensity and duration of the radiation produced by the source can be activated and deactivated by controlling the neutron flux generated by an array of electrically controlled neutron generators positioned outside the body being treated. The energy of the neutrons that interact with the source element can be adjusted to optimize the reaction rate of the ionized radiation production by utilizing neutron moderating material between the neutron generator array and the body. The source device may be left in place and reactivated as needed to ensure the tumor is eradicated without exposing the patient to any additional radiation between treatments. The source device may be removed once treatment is completed.

The resultant ESS is highly multimaterial and multifunctional and may measure ECG, EMG, skin temperature, skin hydration, as well as respiratory rate. Also, a stretchable planar coil made of serpentine ribbons can be used as a wireless strain gauge and/or a near field communication (NFC) antenna. Other embodiments are described herein.

The present disclosure provides a method for detecting the focus of attention. The method includes: obtaining the face of a person in the first image, as well as the result of facial recognition; determining whether the distance between the person and the target is within an effective attention range; determining whether the face is frontal; determining whether the effective attention period is not shorter than a period threshold; detecting the focus of attention for the person to the target.

The present embodiments provide systems and methods for, among others, tracking sensor insertion locations in a continuous analyte monitoring system. Data gathered from sensor sessions can be used in different ways, such as providing a user with a suggested rotation of insertion locations, correlating data from a given sensor session with sensor accuracy and/or sensor session length, and providing a user with a suggested next insertion location based upon past sensor accuracy and/or sensor session length at that location.

The invention is generally a system, apparatus, and method for monitoring and measuring a change in intrauterine pressure without rupturing the amniotic sac. A catheter is coupled to a pressure sensing module. The pressure sensing module is configured with a chamber that is in fluid communication with a balloon of the catheter. The chamber includes a pressure-sensing membrane coupled to sensing circuitry. The sensing circuitry is configured to detect a pressure applied to the pressure-sensing membrane and communicate the condition to a monitor of the system. Methods include inserting the catheter through the cervix so that the balloon may be inflated and situated in the lower segment of the uterus, resting against the amniotic sac. Because the balloon of the catheter is in fluid communication with the pressure-sensing membrane, pulsations of the amniotic sac will be sensed by the sensing circuitry of the pressure sensing module.

In some examples, determining a heart failure status using a medical device comprising one or more sensors includes determining a first value of a heart beat variability metric of a patient while an activity state of a patient satisfies an inactivity criterion based on a signal received from the one or more sensors, and determining, within a predetermined period of time after further determining that the activity state of the patient no longer satisfies the inactivity criterion, a second value of the heart beat variability metric while the activity state of the patient no longer satisfies the inactivity criterion based on the signal. A difference between the first value of the heart beat variability metric and the second value of the heart beat variability metric may be determined and the heart failure status of the patient may be determined based on the difference.

A catheter-based imaging apparatus comprises a catheter having a proximal end and a distal end. An optical emitter is configured to emit optical excitation signals from a distal portion of the catheter. One or more ultrasound transducers are configured for: (a) transmission of acoustic excitation signals from the distal portion of the catheter; and (b) detection of ultrasound response signals from an object of interest at or near to the distal portion of the catheter at frequencies which include a lower receive frequency at least as low as 10 MHz and a higher receive frequency at least as high as 35 MHz. The one or more ultrasound transducers are thereby configured to detect response signals comprising photoacoustic response signals from the object of interest at the lower receive frequency and high resolution imaging signals from the object of interest at the higher receive frequency.

A system for generating a 3D model of a surgical site includes a 3D endoscope and a computing device coupled to the 3D endoscope. The 3D endoscope includes a scanner for scanning a surface of a surgical site and a camera source for generating images of the surgical site. A 3D model of the surgical site, including objects therein, is generated using scan data and image data. The 3D model is updated by detecting a change in the surgical site, isolating a region of the surgical site where the change is detected, generating second scan data by scanning the surface of the isolated region, and updating the 3D model generated using the second scan data of the surface of the isolated region.

A catheter system includes a catheter that includes an outer shaft and a rotatable inner shaft having a drill tip. The catheter can be configured to bend laterally when the inner shaft is rotating within the other shaft for maneuvering within a blood vessel, for example, as the drill tip crosses an occlusion. Catheter bending can be activated by translating the inner shaft relative to the outer shaft in a distal direction, proximal direction, or both. The outer shaft may include a locking feature to rotatably lock the inner shaft with the outer shaft and allowing bidirectional lateral bending of the catheter. The inner shaft can include one or more imaging sensors for collecting images outside of the catheter. The inner shaft may be removable from the outer shaft, for example after an occlusion is crossed, to allow insertion of a guidewire or other device within the outer shaft.
