A method according to the invention comprises the following steps: recording, by means of a vehicle camera (110), a sequence of temporally consecutive images of a vehicle environment; determining, on the basis of the image sequence, at least one movement flow with respect to an object (106, 108) in the vehicle environment; and determining the self-movement of the vehicle (100) on the basis of the at least one movement flow.
